Today was Chinua Achebe's birthday! He would have been 87 years old today, and his works provided much needed inspiration and wisdom to my father. I narrowly missed the chance to meet my namesake before he died, but sadly I was sick on the day he came to my college.
Today was rather eventful on the commission front. I finished three sprites and one character design/full body commission, though I am unwilling to post that anywhere because it is material that is typically on my unpostables list.
I tried to get as many figure drawings done as I could today without missing my commissions. Onward...
I had to take a rest day today. I'm at the point where all my studying and work seems to be going nowhere, which is usually a clue that I'm burning myself out and need to rest. I decided to make RPG Maker VX Ace sized face graphics to relax.
I spent most of today recovering from terrible muscle soreness from apparently overdoing it a bit with my last pushup routine! I managed to get myself together enough by the end of the day to get some inking practice in and worked on some pixels at least.
I recently reopened my old Oekaki board from ancient times! You guys should join it and draw with me and Penbee! I used to run an oekaki years ago, and I'd like to see if that's a thing anyone would be interested in using ever again! Otherwise, I worked on some pixel commissions very early in the morning today and ended up unable to stay awake in the middle of the day. I'll do better tomorrow!
Onward!
I'm still waiting for the ink I ordered to show up, so did 50 hands in ball point pen. I miss my brush... Otherwise, I tinkered with this character I was pixelling - Penbee designed them for me for my little bomberman clone I'm doing in gamedev class!
Spent most of today making up hand, feet and figure drills that I didn't manage to finish in the past week and making placeholder assets for the little bomberman clone I'm doing for gamedev class.
Awaiting word from Microsoft support concerning my once again broken Surface Pro 3. Luckily I am still able to use the device for working while attached to this Cintiq. Fun fact- my cintiq is the first thing I purchased when I started working -- it took me a very long time to save up for it, and it has been a valuable tool in my arsenal since!
Still awaiting funds to purchase my document camera, but until then, my background work and tree studies continue in my sketchbooks.
It's been a long day today but I managed to get all my drawing drills done once again. Most in my sketchbook, at least one croquis session on my cintiq.
My house has been under construction for as long as I've been living here. They started adding sheetrock to the previously exposed studs and I'm not used to this change...
Broke my Surface again, but not so much that I can't use my cintiq to draw. It's been a rough week. Waiting for the replacement so doing most work in the sketchbook still. Looking forward to my document camera.
I ended up forgetting my sketchbook at home and having to do today's tree studies on the computer. I try to avoid doing them on the computer to force myself to think about my process more, but it couldn't be avoided today.
Been working on some assets for a game I'm working on for class. Will upload those when I get a decent walk cycle going.
