Ended up using a large book holder I had, turning it upside down and supporting it on my Art Table in order to make a platform for my Surface Pro 3 dock that angled in such a way that still allowed me to comfortably use it for drawing. It's quite a setup!
Along with my usual studies and such I have been doodling Penbee's mascot character, Quill. I aim to make a nice graphic for our multistreams that I can use!
I spent so much of today dealing with the snow that I barely had time for my usual drawing drills...
During the course of this year of study I have burnt myself out several times working too hard. I've tried to modulate my efforts a little better in 2016 but sometimes I still get very tired. I'll try to rest and do more when I wake up, and do some more at work!
I've been particularly focused on back views of the body in my anatomy studies this week. They are my weakest area, so I have been drawing hundreds of standing back views, back of the skull views and back of the arm views. The back view is always an issue when I need to animate pixel art, so these studies should allow me to work faster on game assets!
My proportion and placement skills are getting better, but I still need to work hard on them. My daily tree studies and drawing these croquis on this grid help me to get used to drawing with better proportion and learning to place things in the right spots, but it's still hard work!
I usually do several tree studies in my sketchbook but I've had to reduce that time to fit in piano practice. I'm off to practice now!
Had to stop short to make it to piano practice on time. I'll do more in my sketchbook when I get back home.
Mostly practicing torso anatomy today, but still working on those arms. Will likely do another arm study rendered in copic marker to use as reference for myself with other studies.
Sketchbook work has been more studies of arms, beyond my typical perspective tests and tree sketches.
