The witches lie just under the top of the mountain, in a great chamber. by this point, the player, having fought his entire way up the inside of the mountain, may have come across several witch outposts. Each one reveals part of what the witches are doing, and all of them are required to have been visited if you wish for the best ending. It is revealed that the Witches are trying to tear apart the very fabric of reality, in order to summon an Eldritch Horror, while causing the complete disintegration of themselves, the mountain, and all matter within a 30 mile radius.
