Streak Club is a place for hosting and participating in creative streaks.
ooh whee this handles images so different from how rawtherapee does, it's kind of dizzying. but dang, it does avoid some of the things that annoy me about rt so.... (this shot is Whatever, but ive been using it as my test shot for learning the ins and outs of dt)
edit: added 2 more pics that compare very similar intentions applied thru both programs, rawtherapee first and darktable second. darktable's results are just straight up noiser and sharper, much to my preferences c:
impromptu shoot in like 5 minutes, lighting done with an overhead projector and photos taken with lx3 on a tripod
lots id do differently in the future but it was fun (my basement does not have enough room for a clean photoshoot and ability for me to move around aiming the camera lol)
also also figured out this site will load if i use a vpn which is significantly faster than using my phone data yay
i still havent figured out why streak.club wont load on my network (weirdly it's the only site to have this problem since switching to this new plan & router) so im slooooooooooooooooowly uploading this on my mobile data
the lx3 is almost a great street camera... it's small and the manual focus on it actually shows you your depth of field for your given aperture, allowing for accurate zone focusing!
unfortunately there's no way to completely disable the lcd, and it chugs thru battery fast. but if i turn off the camera it 1) takes a couple seconds to be able to shoot and 2) doesnt remember my last set manual focus point x . x
despite all that i got this shot which i like quite a bit
took many pics, these were the best that didn't have huge clipped regions. proper exposure is hard on the 995.
from december
the colors on this shot were really good, but i feel the monochrome carries more emotion
i like the slight off-center angle and the general balance of shapes, but the top and bottom bother me. In the uncropped shot i get the very bottom of the door frame for a few pixels and it produces a distracting jagged line, however cropping it out now the lines of the door lead your eye out of the frame, and the lines running along the top are in a similar situation, they distractingly converge with the edge of the frame. if i was maybe a foot further back when i took this shot the edges would've been much more manageable.
lost my sd card reader so it's just* coolpix 995 shots**until i bother to buy a new one (or it turns up)
*(still have plenty backlog to edit too)
**(my only cam that i have a cable to pull images directly off of)

cool!! i personally sticked with rawtherapee bcause i like having as much control as possible (even when it is unnecessary lol)
what i notice by eye is than your darktable output has stronger contrast, less distortion and probably sharpness enabled by default (sensible choice imo). it looks like there is strong dynamic range compression as well. cool aesthetic!
