Trying to incorporate that knowledge gained from landscape studies into my own paintings.

pawns are usually considered foot soldiers in the great game of chess. went for more of a jeanne d'arc kind of feel and i have a lot of fun drawing armor... i'm a little at a loss for the rook. the first was just another alternate version of what i've been doing, the second is what i think more closely illustrates the rook idea. maybe i'm thinking about it too literally, but i don't know how else to emphasize a castle.

I tried to convey eye-rolling, but it's SUPER DIFFICULT. If any of y'all can pull it off in a single still drawing, I'll mail you my spine, free shipping.
