Was going for an AB structure with this song, but the A and the B are kind of off kilter. I was trying to use the A part to build a ton of tension and then release it in the B part, but it seems as if the B isn't even in the same song as the A part. Perhaps an ABA structure would have worked better for this.
Track Notes/Self Feedback:
Melody: Just played all "melodic" parts improvised. I think I did a few different takes and picked the best ones, not a whole lot of effort went into making a good melody here.
Harmony: Simple Progression, nothing complicated needed or desired here.
Dynamics: The hand played dynamics probably could be more elaborate,
Groove/Beats: Only two beats really used here and a bit of chopping. Wasn't really focusing on the beats in this go around.
Sound Design: Spent a good amount of time on getting the sounds to gel together well. Was looking for kind of an ambient feel that would sound ok with an analogy style arp bass motion. Percussives could use a lot of work, very static.
Ambience: No significant ambience in this track.
Mood: Definitely a good mood (going for a frustrated tension) in this track especially the first part, I just feel like it could have resolved better with a different B.
Structure: AB structure probably isn't the best for the divergent ideas used in this track. Ideas in this track are probably better suited for an ABA structure.
Mix: Very little time spent on mixing, probably could stand to have a bit more focus on foreground/background
Plans for this track: May revisit it a few months, not in love with it, don't hate it.
So this one is a short droney melodic march. It is so tough working on things away from home. I miss my real computer. See you guys at weeklybeats!
Simple song with a slightly christmasy/lullaby feel.
The end of the year is the worst for getting anything done. Here's another half-assed loop thing.
Last couple of weeks has been rough with basically no time to work on music. Literally 30 minutes with Ableton Live for this track. Might as well be white noise for the quality of it.
Kinda calling it in this week. Simple call and response ambientish thing.
Mostly playing with cascading reverbs, delays and pitch shifts in this generative ambient track.
Had to take care of family this week, so really didn't have time to make anything more than an ambient generative patch.
So another ambient track, but in a minimal vein this time. I thought about doing a generative patch, but this was a simple tune that just sort of came together really quickly. Sketched it Live using built in instruments and then used outboard gear to print it to loops/scenes. I am really digging Roland's SE-02. It was used for all sounds in this track. Printing the poly sounds was a PIA, but worth it.
A short ambient track.
Downtempo glitchy thing again. I'm focusing on getting better at mixing lately so having a new song to mix every week is helpful. I feel like the mid highs are kind of kind of grating here, but my room isn't optimized yet, so I can't be sure.
down tempo glitchy march
quick downtempo thing...
Simple downtempo loop that turned into a full track. I should pull out ableton Push more often.
Continue to be short on time, so this is just a short ambient thing.
Part of a soundtrack for a horror genre exploration game.
Love this chord progression. Need to develop it more of course.
Short ambient thing made with ableton live. I'm testing out Adaptiverb with this. While It does sound musical, it mainly sounds like a delayed string pad in the background instead of reverbations.
Another quick jam thing... music equipment is being all hooked up after the move, mostly checking to make sure everything works at this point.
Pretty much calling it in this week except this is an all hardware ambient recording.
I am going to be on the road tomorrow, so I had to get something in quick tonight. I am hoping soon that i will have multiple hours during the week to work on music to create something better than this... hopefully next week.

I like how you've structured your notes as a commentary on the areas that you want to focus on and accomplish.
At around 1:16 is when I feel the track starts to really grow into its own with the stronger lead-like elements. The arp (which is a little loud at the start of the track but starts to move toward the background) sets the initial tone but I think the tension starts to ramp up with the good use of the long notes and the dissonance timbres.
The breakdown is well done, the transition doesn't feel contrived at all.
I would question the use of the flute-like instrument in the second half, it seems a bit more organic than the rest of the track. I maybe would have considered reintroducing elements from the first half of the track (like the arp). That would being it closer to the ABA that you mentioned in your liner notes but I think would unify the two parts more.
I think my favorite part of the track overall is that transition - the breaking down from the first half to the second was such an interesting part of the song.
