Nice track with a good push from the drums over lush pad.

I like the break around 1:05, and its big acid bass before going back into the main lead and pads. The choir sounds at the very beginning are very nice - subtle but sound very realistic. Were these samples or a good VST?

A live improv techno song with Eurorack doing percussion (and growls, and some weird melodic stuff) and Future Retro 777 doing the bass. I was doing this while smoking ribs outside. Loop-based, but hopefully simple and fun.

I streamed this. You can check it out, https://twitch.tv/emeraldarcana/

A bit of an exercise that illustrates things that I should practice than my composing and producing prowess.

QUESTIONS I NEED TO ANSWER:

Note to self: How do I save Grid presets?
How do I map the device quick controls to a particular Grid parameter?
How do I reverse an audio clip?
I should improve my timing when playing chords, etc.

A noisy drone ambient set with lots of distortion and wall of sound. Performed live on the Eurorack. This was streamed, you can check it out when the VOD comes out at https://twitch.tv/emeraldarcaa/

Warning: long-ish (7 minutes)

I haven't done "traditional" music in a while, I might go back to that next week.

I performed live for Modular On The Spot at a Community Center on August 28. Great audience, had a decent crowd size, and I received a number of compliments on the set afterward.

Edit: I managed to get the file uploaded. The set is about 20 minutes long, so be aware that it's rather long for a Weekly Music submission.

Original text:

I am rather busy tomorrow so I do not know if I can extract audio by tomorrow, so I'm going to post the video below as a placeholder and hopefully get back to editing it by deadline tomorrow.

The show itself starts around 8m 30s in and it runs for about 15m. (tomorrow when I'm less tired I'll try to get audio and a timestamp)

This one is preparation for a Eurorack Set that I'm going to play live for Modular On The Spot in the city next week Saturday. The set is about 25m long so this song is also pretty long. Sorry about that.

This one is a live performance.

I also streamed this performance (actually, streamed a couple of practice runs).

But I needed something to record. It's very... well, random. The main success point? I was able to make it sound kind of different. Also, I think I need to gate the filter with a sequencer which I'm going to do right now.

Done in hardware, started off as an attempt to learn Metropolix to make more melodic stuff and ended up with extremely atonal and ambient crazy sounds that are chaotic and muffled!

This was streamed. https://twitch.tv/emeraldarcana/

A terrible weight presses on your mind, threatening to break through as you lose yourself to illusions and dark thoughts.

This was a song done with Eurorack modular, SWAM Violin with Linnstrument, and my voice. SWAM Violin was run through a gate on the Eurorack with Metropolix, which is something that I didn't even think about until I actually started, which is SUPER COOL and gives me a venue to try to perform more harmonic content with Eurorack that isn't just bass notes and drums.

The voice was a spontaneous decision and it's run through a bunch of software effects. In an ideal world, I'll do more than Ooohs and Aaaaahs, but also mix it such that it is blended into the rest of the song better with possibly some hardware vocal processing.

I ended up just working on the previous week's song, but I didn't end up finishing the arrangement since I was rather busy with other things I wanted to do (like some commissions that I can't share here). I did add a few parts but I didn't really extend the arrangement so it's like last week's song with a few minor tweaks.

Sorry for being lazy

More EDM practice - I am working on creating a template in Bitwig and continuing to learn how to use Bitwig features.

This is pretty unfinished, I spent a few hours on it. If you want to see the process, you can watch it on my stream: https://www.twitch.tv/emeraldarcana/

I started doing this song on stream, but when I couldn't really come up with anything I just ended up recording an 8-bar loop and then added some content in Bitwig, like an arp bass, some synth pads, and orchestral ensembles, and now it sounds like a synthwave song.

It's super short because the stream didn't really go that well from a creative output point of view.

A Eurorack jam. I spent a lot of time with the Metropolix on this one and came across tons and tons of bad takes. I streamed much of it today, but I ended up with a few technical problems and a lot of moments of bad inspiration.

Hope you like it, it's pretty much like a dark techno-y song.

OOOPS I spaced out and continued working past the week's deadline. I started this one and streamed it and then wanted to try to work on it some more before upload and went over by about five minutes.

Sorry, I've been rather lazy about listening and offering feedback to other tracks this week. I'll try to catch up this week.

This is actually the same project as last week's with enough changes that it's basically not really recognizable as the same song. It's not exactly done either (the arrangement isn't really complete, and the "core loops" are not as polished as I'd really like, but what a HUGE difference a week makes.

I was practicing making some trance (though it kind of sounds like House) in Bitwig, so I didn't really get that much done this week. Still learning the UI and learning how things work together in the new environment. Hope for more results next time.

We got our weekly music theme today from Two Hour Track Sunday. We played a (really complicated) game where you had spies and non-spies and the non-spies composed a song according to a "location" and you had to guess first who the spies were and then the spies guessed what the location was.

I ended up spending maybe an hour and a bit on it in total.

The theme was "Cemetery", though part of the game was that you were supposed to make it a little ambiguous so that the "spies" couldn't guess the location!

This was live-streamed also - https://twitch.tv/emeraldarcana on June 6, but look out about an hour and a half into the stream for the beginning of this particular track, since I started doing some stuff and then started over.

An initial sketch, it took me about 1.5 hours during OHC, and then I worked on it for an additional 3h 30m during stream, and it still needs more work. I didn't really listen to the master either since it's in such a draft state.

Riding high
In the sky
with my happy heart shaped
Chocolate drop

See the world
Sweet and clear
Covered in a rain of
Chocolate gold

Happy heart shape chocolate drop
Dancing with the stars aloft
Happy heart shape chocolate drop
Around the world, we’ll never stop

Ambient music on the Eurorack modular, though in practice this might actually be more drone than ambient. Recorded live, took two takes and about 1h 30m total.

Streamed live here https://twitch.tv/emeraldarcana/ With respect to streaming, it was actually a pretty good day since I got a pretty big raid (of about 24 people).

I did this for 2HTS:http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/2HTS372

"By the time I got to this it was masked behind a copyright claim for YouTube

Cribbed from some great piano players - will my livestream of this session get silenced?

This is a little bit of an absurd callout to when streamers play classical music legally on their streams, and then suddenly Twitch will mute the video and slap DMCA violation because their performance is too similar to some classical professional performer's recording owned by a record company."

It kind of has some goodness in it, but I forgot to side chain, and the mastering chain really crushed the dynamics so it wasn't quite what I wanted to hear and I cut it too close to the end to adjust it.

This might be a borderline case but this week I was tired and didn't really end up creating a song of my own, but instead ended up doing an impromptu collab with my friend Starla (who runs compo.thasauce.net). Starla produced the track and provided vocals, and I did a guitar solo and some of the male vocal parts so it's really kind of not my track as the main artist but since it was a COLLAB~ I wanted to upload it anyway since I rarely do collabs or contribution of instrumental parts to other people's songs.

Also we did this as part of Two Hour Track Sunday which meant that we decided on what to do in real time in UNDER TWO HOURS over a stream!

its only temporary
so they said
i'm waiting for my judgment
so you said

I'm filled with all my secrets
I keep them to myself
I'm waiting for my judgment
ooohh

i'm hidden in this limbo
ohhh
im waiting for salvation
ohhh

Tell me all your secrets
I'll keep them to myself
I'm waiting for my judgment
ooohh

lost in the space between
you and me
in purgatory

tethered to you
can anybody hear me
can anybody hear me

drawn to the world that keeps
you and me
in purgatory

tethered to you
can anybody hear me
can anybody hear me
