I am continuing with experimenting with the generative device I built in Ableton Live (see my previous submission for more info). This time it is the drums (Yamaha DTX Multi 12 with the new custom kits from Yamaha) doing random things as the other instruments are played more or less manually.
I did not spend a lot of time on this track, because I did not want to ruin it by overworking, but now I am quite happy with how it turned out. Also my main laptop is in repairs so I took out my 10y old backup which somehow managed to run Ableton Live 10 with all the bells and (not so many) whistles I like to have.

Wow, great tune ! Indeed it doesn't seem to need anymore work. I liked the bass sound and the melody. The generative drums also fit nicely.
@Ranranzeau the drums in my case are also a tonal instrument - I chose a bunch of sounds that I liked, and made a clip that just has a chord of those. In effect if you have a drum machine that you can play with a regular piano keyboard and each note rings a different drum sound, you can do the same. Then the Live arpeggiator is set on chord mode which means that every pulse plays all the notes/sounds, but due to randomness some of the notes have velocity set to 0 so they do not sound at all.
I also achieve some dynamics by modulating the velocity using the Live Velocity effect.
Edit: a really basic thing you can play around is just set a chord you like on repeat in piano roll and then slap a Velocity effect on it. Play around with Random and Out Hi and you can turn the most boring repeating loop into something really interesting.
Nice one. Can you elaborate on how the drums part is generated ? I get it when it comes to a tonal instrument but what parameters can you set in the case of drums ?
Nice chill track. I like how it builds over time with instruments getting in progressively, like the bass from 1:52 onwards.
I played around with my MPC1000 and Volca Sample, then finished this project in Live.

The saga continues.
I thought what if I try to very quickly make an EP out of the jam session I did earlier this week. I managed to "finish" 4 tracks, but I am only posting the 1st one here for now.
This is some loops and sounds I noodled around with on the Yamaha QY100 and then later finished up on the computer and used all of my other regular gear.
I kind of wish it had more structure somewhat.

Really had to rush this arrangement and mix because I did not have much time this week. There's even a whole second part that I did not have time to work on at all, but maybe it's actually better as it is now than if I had worked on it too much.

More experiments with the QY100. I tried an approach where I copied the song structure from another track that I like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVyTLx2e_tQ).
I like the sound in general, but I should have focused a little more on making the drums more interesting with varied rhythms and some percussion sounds. Better luck next time.
