Streak Club is a place for hosting and participating in creative streaks.
I tried to sit down and finally learn the basics of modeling in Blender to help deal with my burnout, and I did a reasonable job of it. I built this model of Apparition today and intend to build more models for reference and to dust off my old modeling knowledge from back in like 2008 or so when I was first using Maya. I also finally got my little Huion tablet delivered-- it is... strange. I haven't used a pen tablet like this since I was a little boy. It is taking some getting used to, but I will be needing this for when my main computer acts up. At least until I can replace my Surface with commission work or something.
@VaXXMachine He contacted me about the preview a few days ago and asked me about a UI change he wanted to make. The new features include an export tool, a change to some of the way brushes work that I can't quite remember, and other tweaks like that. What do you find frustrating while painting? I'd like to keep track of this stuff as well, I'm keeping an archive of the wireframes and such I did talking to him about interface stuff for UI/UX job interviews if I can get any.
@VaXXMachine Oh hey! You joined streak club after all, excellent! I'm glad you're digging Leonardo - I've been talking to the dev about some updates he's doing and he's finally fixing some bugs that were driving me crazy!
@BLK MKT Sculptris isn't *ideal* for games, but you can export the .obj into blender and then reduce the poly count into something suitable for your project.
Sculptris is like a soft introduction to Zbrush.
HI BTW, I met up w/you in Philly. I've been using Leonardo a lot and I really like it!
@VaXXMachine A friend of mine used to use sculptris. It's basically a Z-brush/Mudbox like, right? Can you make models that are suitable for use in games in that program?
I strongly recommend trying out Sculptris as well http://pixologic.com/sculptris/
Hello everyone! I've finally launched my Patreon! I'm gonna post tutorials, daily sketch work, scripts and other stuff that I do for everyone to enjoy! https://www.patreon.com/blkmkt
I've still been doing daily work, but a lot of it is NDA, so I've taken this time away from Streak Club to relax my previous requirement to do at least 20 figures daily to focus on other work. See you folks on Patreon and on stream!
Streak Club has been an immensely powerful arrow in my quiver for these last four years and change, helping me to become a more focused and diligent artist. I have not missed a day of study in the last 1500 days, and though we did not exchange comments very often, seeing everyone else working has been a joy and a privilege.
Though I am not leaving Streak Club, I am going to conclude my posting to this Daily Art Streak. I wanted to finish 100 figures one last time for everyone, but the whole point of this thing was to learn to treat myself more humanely!
I am going to be launching my Patreon in the near future. I'll share the scripts and other utilities I made to help make this run possible, and probably other things. I'm still figuring it out! https://www.patreon.com/blkmkt
Until next time, Onward, everyone!
I took my mom to the Philadelphia Flower show today. The arrangements were beautiful, and my mom had a great time! I will be transitioning away from daily posts in this streak tomorrow, possibly posting weekly instead. I'm also investigating some sort of automated process for posting or making daily journal entries with the work I get done. I'll figure something out. Onward...
I'm going to put a cap on my daily streaks in 5 days time. It's been a good run, but I'll be switching to a more project focused streak, probably a weekly one after that. Onward...
Spent most of today following up on business leads, working on props for the illustration I'm working on of my OCs. Onward...
I've been away for a while, dealing with pretty severe burnout, then helping my dad with lumber. I'm still here. Onward...
Still recovering from pretty severe burnout, but I think this work has been slowly paying off! I've never been able to draw all 9 of my OCs in a way that didn't immediately fill me with embarrassment. We'll see how it goes as I move forward! Onward...
Today was the funeral of a dear friend's grandfather. I knew him since I was a teenager. He lived a long, happy life, and for that I am glad. I caught up with some of my friends and spoke about our creative plans for the future. I remain determined to build my skills and use them to make things that will outlast me. Onward...
I worked on an art trade for most of the day, attempting to refine my rendering technique using Leonardo's new Flood Fill/Magic Wand tool. All Leonardo needs is layer grouping and I won't need any other apps to do illustration work. Onward...

HEY! I'm excited for the new update, I was using Clip Studio Paint on my surface prior to Leonardo- and while I love many aspects of clip studio paint, the UI is less than optimal for the Surface. Leonardo feels like I'm actually working with a digital sketchbook- and I love it for that!
My problem with the Leonardo brushes is how the brushes handle blending. The brushes in clip studio paint blend really well and naturally, while the brushes in Leonardo are kinda...uhh, chunky? It's hard to get a nice gradient with the brushes like I get in CSP.
I'll try to make a side by side comparison and send you the results. It's hard to explain without visuals.
