Got the merino single off the spindle and started plying.
Did some knitting on the tea cozy.
Made a mini-watercolour painting
First draft is done. Did some watercolours for it
Also made mini-shawl number 2, photos after blocking the whole series.
Got some idea bouncing around in my head involving silk fabric and thread, and dye. Watercolour doodles trying to get it figured out. Needs iterating and non-crap paper. Don't buy Montval if you like heavy washes, kiddos. 100% cotton or go home
Modo got frustrating today so picked up ye olde watercolour box instead. Cotman on mini-canvas gesso'd with watercolour ground
After a hiccup for Revision, here's the start of page 6! Need to finish up the songbird miniatures tomorrow :) I think I finally managed to represent the bouncing cycle decently
I finished it after midnight yesterday so it counts, right? :) It's just too cute not to share.
It's a double french joke. April's Fools is April's Fish in France for some reason, and it's traditional to make paper fishes and stick them on people's backs. That, and there's a saying about April: "En Avril, ne te découvre pas d'un fil" (In April, don't uncover yourself from a single thread), referring to how unpredictable the weather tends to be. I'm surprised Sweden has no such saying, because it snowed this very morning.
Anyhow. Cue silly rhyme, fish in a sweater, and some very nice paint lifting on the fins :D
Starting a series on things that inspire me and will drive what I create. I've been dabbling for a while, now it's time to reflect and find where to go next
Prepped this board over the past few days, and just went ahead and painted whatever. Turned out cute, ish.
Darkened and textured some more, I'm calling it done. It's not as great as I'd like it to be, but I'm out of ideas for how to make it work better. I also gesso'd the rest of the plate and will paint that with acrylics tomorrow to create a clean frame
Started again on an older WIP (first poc is from last June!) based on the game Fly'N. Need to finish it! It's a bunch of wood things glued on a plate, covered in an ungodly amount of watercolour ground, with some fabric trimming thingie to add texture. It took the watercolours surprisingly well!
Overall I need to darken it a LOT, which is proving tricky on this surface.
Everything that could go wrong went wrong on this one - tracing, paper warping, trouble with the face - but I made it. I couldn't get her to smile, so she's grumpy instead. I'd be too if I had been locked in a tower my whole life.
Pretty happy with it overall! Next month: something different
Almost done. Need to reposition the mouth to avoid a scary face, this is why I hate painting humans. Birds turned out adorable :
Paint! I'm building up the hair in layers, making sure I get a nice fiery orange range. Unstretched paper = misery, I'll have to find a way to flatten it again once done
