Summary

Gearhead, grease monkey, tinkeress. Words thrown like insults that sound like praise to Vaasch Altier the aeronautic mechanic on the sky-liner Aura. The Aura is a weathered Zeppelin cruise liner repurposed to run short range economy class transportation in the empire of Kiren. Kiren is an older monarchy which embodies the ideas of a bourgeois culture. In response to this a rebellion is boiling in the country coming to a head when they hijack the Aura. Initially intending to blow it up their leader is moved by Vaasch's dedication to the ship and decides to take the Aura to their base as a flag ship, including Vaasch.

Gameplay

The Brazen Skies is primarily a first person puzzle game with a deep linear story line. Players take on Vaasch's role as the mechanic of the Aura, maintaining and upgrading the systems and interacting with both the crew of the ship and the people of the rebellion. Upgrading and maintaining the ship are executed as a form of puzzle, players manipulate systems to achieve their goals while navigating the ship. These will occur both in base but players may also be deployed with the ship, this leads to higher pressure scenarios where players must navigate the ship rapidly while performing repairs. Players will also face another form of puzzle in the form of conversations where they may need to shift NPCs opinions or ideals to advance the story

Mind-set

Vaasch is largely pacifistic and so will regularly oppose the rebellions viewpoints with the goal of minimising casualties and thinking of the people who will get mixed up in a potential war. She was born on and has lived most of her life on the Aura and so has a limited world view but a strong will and love of the Aura, attempting to do anything she can to protect it and the peaceful life she has had on it. The Brazen Skies aims to create an atmosphere where the traditionally "good" rebellion feels just as oppressive as the traditionally "bad" empire but also where Vaasch is an eccentric, passionate and somewhat naive pacifist. Overall The Brazen Skies looks to address the way wars effect people, the misconceptions and hasty conclusions we make when we feel strongly about something, pacifism and the difficulties of being a non-combatant in a combat situation all in a unique fantasy setting that helps make the content more digestible.
