Aw shoot, I thought monday was the cut-off date rather than sunday. I wish there was a way on this site to go back and insert an entry. It's all just the honor system anyway right?

Fortunately, since this is ME streak and I just started, I was able to just change the date to be on monday :)

Here is my practice log for the week:

Instrument: CELLO

Hours: About 2.5

Songs: Still working on Chrono Trigger Prelude; Lilium from Elfen Lied; and Game of Thrones, for which I found a new easier more single-instrument-aligned arrangement

Days: I only practiced 3 days, and towards the beginning of the week. It's been a bit too long since my last practice, I would like to only take 1 or 2 days off at most so that I am not so rusty when I get back to it. I also practiced the most on the first day, with a little less time spent on each day. It would be better to be more consistent.

Next sprint: Aim for at least 45 minutes on practice days, with max 2 days between practices. Same songs above, for bonus add one new song.

Just discovered this streak!

I'll edit this post every time I practice this week, since I'm likely to forget how much time I spent every day. ^^'

Oh, and, I also play cello (like this streak's host, although I'm a newbie). :D

  • Thursday: Study by Bréval (line 1 and 2), about 45 minutes.
  • Friday: Study by Bréval (line 3 and 4, then all of it), about 1 hour.
  • Saturday: Lesson, Study by Bréval (all), accompanied with the teacher. About 1 hour.
  • Sunday: Study by Bréval, line 1 and 2, faster, staccato. 1 hour.
  • Monday: Study by Bréval, all of if, faster and staccato. 1 hour. It’s starting to sound great! :D

Hello there !

I bought a Diatonic button accordion this year and i need more regularity in my training, so i join this streak. :)

I'm working on "La valse d'amélie Poulain" by Yann Tiersen, and the "Song of storm" in the Zelda video game.

  • Sunday : I played for one hour.
  • Monday : 35 minutes. I think i begin with too difficult musics…

Bonjour !

Sadly, I won’t be able to train much this week since I’ll be traveling without my cello.

  • Tuesday: 1h hour of the study by Bréval. I was tired so I didn’t do very well. Though I think I’ll be able to play that piece in its designed pace at some point! :)

I’m back home!

  • Wednesday: 1h with the teacher, he’s happy with the study by Bréval so we start the next piece I’ll be working on for the next few days: Minuetto by Éxaudet.
  • Friday: 1h of Minuetto by Éxaudet.

I'm back home with my dog, i can work on my new song (La danse de l'ours).

  • Wednesday : My dog just discovered the sound of my melodeon, he loves it and listens :D. I begin to play with both hand together :).
  • Sunday : 20 minutes

  • Dimanche : 20 minutes

2 days of normal practice - still working on Game of Thrones mostly and a few other pieces. Every time I try GoT I use a different fingering. I'm still not positive what I like best, but I think I'm close to pulling out a pencil and making some choices lol.

1 other day of improv trying to figure out some metal chords - unsuccessfully. But it was fun, which currently is the point.

It's beginning to sound like a real music :p

I still can't play the full song, but some parts are easier now.

  • Wednesday : 1 hour. My left thumb hurts a little (it's the finger who releases the air, very useful when you work on a part which you only have to pull or only have to push)
  • Friday : 30 minutes. It's smoother, i can almost play the entire song without some variations and with some slowdowns. : D
  • Saturday : 30 minutes + 10 minutes. Sounds good, but i need some fluidity.

Only about 1h, game of thrones and elfen lied.

Only 10 minutes…

I need to record myself.

Seulement 10 minutes…

Je dois m'enregistrer.

Got back from my cruise, and then was sick for a week. I started retraining my muscles with some basic scales.

I’ve been a bit down this week so I didn’t practice very much :(

  • Wednesday: about 1h of exercises, a little bit of the study by Bréval, and the first line of Menuet d’Exaudet.
  • Thursday: about 1h, exercises and the first two lines of Menuet d’Exaudet
  • Monday: 1h course with the teacher, we played the whole Menuet d’Exaudet at a reduced speed.

I'm getting a bit boring, just playing game of thrones a little bit each week. I am getting better at it. I mostly kept the fingering I settled on from the previous week, but I find myself gravitating toward higher and higher fingerings so who knows.

I think i might record myself the next week.

  • Monday : 30 minutes.

  • Lundi : 30 minutes.

Whow, time flies by. Not much training this week. :|

  • Monday: 1h with the teacher, still doing the study by Bréval. I started learning the 4th position! \o/

I've been sick, so only 2 days of practice. Still keeping it going though!

  • More Game of Thrones, although I forgot the perfect fingering I had from last week. I'm kind of struggling. As soon as I find the right fingering again I'm going to write it down. I can play at speed but still with the occasional mistake. Tone quality is still pretty poor on string transitions.
  • Added a few more pop pieces to the roster, I especially like Coldplay's Clocks.

I want to begin a new song but i'm not satisfied about my skill on "La danse de l'ours".

  • Tuesday : 40 minutes. My left arm is not yet strong enough.

Getting back to it!

  • Wednesday: ~30 minutes, I started a bit late so I didn’t have much time to practice. Anyways I practiced a bit my 4th position and chords. I also played the study by Bréval a little bit. :)
  • Saturday: about 1h
  • Monday: 1h, study by Bréval, more 4th position training

Continued strength training, my fingers are pretty weak. Did some scales and some jamming. Will work through some pieces next week

  • Saturday: 1h, lots of 4th position exercises, menuet d'Exaudet nearly at regular speed.
  • Sunday: 1h, like yesterday I worked on the 4th position a bit and then I played the menuet d’Exaudet multiple times, insisting on parts I don’t fully master yet. I’ll probably play it with the teacher tomorow! :D
  • Monday: probably around 30 minutes, I did some 4th position exercises and I played the menuet d’Exaudet multiple times at normal speed. :) The lesson has been postponed to tomorow.

I've actually practiced a bit here an there - but not as much as I'd like to. Going to try for at least 10 minutes a day for this week. Wish me luck!

Played one song. Today. Yeah. Busy weekend, and sore arms.

  • Tuesday: 1h lesson, new exercises and new piece to work on! :D
  • Thursday: 1h15, I tried the new exercises but let the new piece alone… for now. :)
  • Friday: 1h of the new exercises and a little bit of the new piece (I cut my finger while slicing bread so I'm having a hard time with extensions -_-)
  • Saturday: 1h, still doing the exercises but I focused more on the new piece (which is a study by Romberg by the way), this one is quite difficult! :o
  • Sunday: 1h15, a tiny bit of exercises and a lot of training on the study by Romberg. Half of it is completely in extension! :O
  • Monday: 30 minutes, still training on the study by Romberg. I only practiced 30 minutes because my fingers hurt. :(

Played Game of Thrones and Phantom of the Opera for fun. Worked a bit harder on Think of Me, especially the difficult run and high note at the end of the song. Not up to speed there but getting close.

Camping trip and bad sunburn from said trip made it hard to get something for this lol.

Little pause this week, I only played with my teacher on monday.

We did a few 4th position exercises and he gave me a new lesson to work on, using both the 1st and 4th positions. Looks difficult and fun! :D
