I'm going to try and sketch every biome to go along with all of my clouds. Soooo here's a desert biome sketch
Continuation of yesterday's doodles. Almost done with these wispy clouds. I'll try these in a cartoony style next time
It's much easier to use a darker tone as a base. I tried every variation and this one is the cleanest workflow. I tried starting from the mid tones and bright tones but to no avail.
I finished another wispy cloud drawing. I had a rough time shading the directional lines inside the cloud.
Shaded in some clouds from before. I kept the colors at 3 because 4 has too much fidelity to it- Higher fidelity drawings dont look great as background objects.
I tried speed painting some hills today so I can pair them with the clouds I drew in the past. It's not perfect but I'm satisfied with how they turned out :D
I'll adjust the cloud colors so it matches this scenery a bit more too.
Added some wip shade. I finished the top one but I decided to redo it. I'm trying to add more circular and s-curves to the shapes. I think this shape has the best organic feel to it.
I need to stop drawing in straight diagonals like I do with UI
I'm going to try drawing these wispy shapes. My first attempt looked horrible so I'm hoping this one goes a little better
Nice I almost finished recoloring these clouds. It took a lot longer than expected but I'm happy with the results. I need to figure out how to draw these quicker in a more realistic style.
I usually started with the mid tones if there were 3 tones total, added highlights, and finally the shadows. I started with the darker tones when working with 2 tones. I think this is the most optimal method thus far.
As for the shapes, I need to write more notes to quantify the concepts into words.
I tried a different color palette using existing cloud shapes. I'm going to try and double the shade count to make it look realistic
A continuation of the previous sketches. I did my best to practice 3d shading with minimal details and colors.
Trying out some different shading styles. This one feels better for perspective while maintaining simplicity. It's like the 2 shade style but I'm using 3 colors total. When one color is added, another is taken out
I've begun coloring in the swirly windy clouds. I'm not sure what style to go for though. I can use the bubbly shape and then add the protruding edges to give the illusion of a wind passing through them. Or I can use diagonal shapes throughout the cloud to give it a jagged look.
