Doing a continuation of yesterday's clouds. Ill be filling these in tmrw.
I need to figure out a better way to structure and sort these variations though.
Okay I'm back to drawing clouds tonight. I'll be exploring the cartoony style with the flat bottom. Ill take inspiration from Mario, Old Japanese paintings, and cartoons from cable tv
Went back to digital for today! My coloring is still god awful so I deleted all the color and focused on the line art. Pretty happy with this doodle overall
Yey Finished the past few days' sketches. I did my best to polish them with a curvy style. After drawing a bunch of these clouds, I realized that it's best for me to stick with this realistic style when using 4 colors.
Ill draw in the cartoony style when using 2 colors. That makes the most sense moving forward.
Continuation of yesterday's cloud style. I think I'm getting the hang of this sort of style. I start with the second darkest tone, then work my way up to the brighest. I then finish with the darkest tone last.
For these, I tried using a blockier shape. Not 100% blocky like a rocky texture but slightly bulkier. I made the shapes feel cloudier by adding subtle textures near the bottom half of the cloud. I noticed that if there's too much texturing near the top, it ruins the flow of the entire cloud. It feels unnatural for some reason.
So ill keep this technique in mind for future clouds :D
I tried fixing the shapes of the previous sketch & added some shading. The top cloud needs some word though. I need to approach these wispy shapes in a different way because I'm taking too long fixing them after the initial sketch.
Ill add some more color to all of these 2 palette clouds in the future. It'll be a great idea to save some time while practicing shading.
Polished the sketches from yesterday. I maintained the shading that I always do but I should consider some other lighting variations
Ima try to draw wispy clouds for a bit. I think these guide lines are necessary because you can't draw the silhouette from the start
Revisiting some cloud sketches. Ive been able to catch some mistakes. Once i'm done drawing all the variations, ill create a new sheet that is an iteration of the old sheet. It'll be cool to see the slight improvements and variations over time
Trying out a new style with a bunch more colors. I sort of figured going from dark to lightest tones is the easiest method. Im still trying to figure out methods to recreate this reference picture tho.
trying out some different shading perspectives. It's quite confusing so ill study some more examples tmrw
