Hectic week so rather rushed this, and I really would have liked to start this sooner as it has some nice sounds in it, plus I love tricky drums which you can do really well in a tracker. Could have left this until next week but nah, discipline!

Really liking that beat! Nice variations, and I like that chord progression, too.

It wasn't my intention to do something that ended up sounding like mid-90s Funkstorung, but there you go.

It's been a while. I have been at my lowest ebb creatively for some years and really not felt able to complete anything, so I didn't push it, built up a hunger.

Just finished building a new PC and have spent the last couple of weeks getting it up and running with all my favourite software including VCVrack, and here's the first one off the new computer, basically more ambient because that's what I'm really feeling a need to make these days.

Going to be honest and say music isn't my main focus at the moment, but I hope I find some inspiration soon and feel the magic again. This is more VCVrack, layering lots of stuff.

I made this not so much as music but more an aid for a sort of meditation/concentration exercise. The first 30 seconds will give you an idea of what you get for the full duration, there's very little variation by design other than the shifting time programmed in.

I was fighting the urge to play in some variation, modulate the filters more, bring mere elements in over time, but it felt right to keep it as even as possible all the way through, and that takes some courage in a world where it feels like you have to add detail to everything and keep it varied.

I'm trying to do an album elsewhere so not uploading so much stuff here, but here's something I made in VCVrack. Haf (pronounced "haav") is Welsh for summer, and I saw HAF25 as a discount code on a website.

Was away on holiday last week so no tune. This was me trying to be a bit rustic this week.

Going for some dark ambient this week, I like the vibe of it. Hard to do something truly minimal, I feel.

Really enjoying using VCVRack now for these sort of drifty, beatless sounds, stuff that's difficult to make in Renoise.

Just wanted to do something where I took a basic sequence and tried to create a texture with it, and I reckon it worked.

Missed a load of weeks through a combination of lack of inspiration and doing other stuff, but here's a bit of VCVrack stuff.

All the sounds in this are from the old Amiga ST-xx samples discs, some a bit too much Supermassive.

More modular this week, VCVrack as always as I'm not made of money.

Inspired by the sort of hazy sunshine you get at this time of year ere in the UK at least, warm and pleasant, with the trees still bare.

Never sure how much to compress these sorts of melodic drones, the one part sticks out a bit too much but it's always an experiment.

No tunes the last couple of weeks as I've been away learning Welsh.

Back to this, honestly got very bored of this quickly, didn't intend to finish it, was merely messing about with a 303 VST and went from there. Not the sort of music I want to be making right now.

Lots of old stuff in boxes somewhere, degrading.

Glitchy, indoorsy sort of tune this week. Very hard to mix and master, these.

Having a go at some driving krautrock-style beats that sort of sound like a more synthetic version of Simple Headphone Mind by Stereolab. Maybe a little too compressed, can never get these things right, but it does sound really solid to me and frankly that's what counts.

EDIT: I re-rendered it and did a bit of work . Obviously if you didn't hear the original you won't hear the difference, but just saying.

Missed last week as I was having a nice long weekend away, and this week has been hectic,.

I didn't have time to put the percussion I wanted on this, maybe later.

Anyway, After a lot of VCVrack recently I am going back to my main love: Renoise.

More VCVrack with loopers, not sure about the percussion, the polyrhythm module I was using kept losing time.

May not be a track next week as I'm away but we'll see.

Was having a look at some loopers in VCVrack this week. Will probably do more glitchy looping stuff in the future no doubt.
