i'm currently reading Pictorial Effect in Photography: Being Hints On Composition And Chiaroscuro For Photographers (what a title), interesting book, i like the takes on photo manipulation (esp on faking the sky), super forward thinking
anyway, i didn't manipulate anything here, this is another uncropped very lightly edited b&w pentax q pic. i'm thinking a bunch about the semi-chaotic properties of uncropped compositions, and whilst my process will always change (i need to change), i believe this "traditional prime master b&w arc" improves my shooting skills a lot. i still kinda see b&w like "cheating" btw, way too easy to make shit look good with b&w lmao, when i'll have more energy i might get back to color

oooo i gotta check that out, ive been wanting to start reading some photography literature!
& i agree about black&white lol
&&I've not thought about uncropped compositions having an element of chaos to them, that's quite cool
&&& ur photo is incredible! wonderful positive negative aaaaaa!!!
compositing experiment. different exposure for each color channel, same subject. didn't do anything with the raws, neutral export. take this as an idea not a result
spent much of my energy painting + i'm kinda "out" of interesting raws. i'll go to the museum wednesday and hopefully snap some interesting compositions on the way
worst case, i'll go for a walk with the Q, there's always something
i don't have good raws to work on & i'm very tired from drawing, here's another unedited phone picture (same session as yesterday's, i know i know). i guess that's kinda cheese. oh well
@999999999 it's a good book so far! very opinionated and of its time, but well paced and very interesting to read. sometimes i wish the opposition between pictorialism and straight photography wasn't so strong. straight photography definitely was the most interesting artistic statement, but i wonder if pictorialism could have been a more open minded path to take long term
thank you for &&& :)
