So I decided to experiment with some reverb as a sound design method, and I am quite happy with the results. I mean, of course I should be a lot more tasteful and not drown everything in it but hey this is just the first experiment, please give me a break. :) (Also I think it sounds gooood)

I played around with my MPC1000 and Volca Sample, then finished this project in Live.
Happy last day of the year, everyone.
Happy holidays!

Something more contemplative (?) for the end of year mood. I should probably go back and make this track even more shorter and minimalistic though!

Happy with this one, I hope I mixed the guitars nicely.

The saga continues.
I thought what if I try to very quickly make an EP out of the jam session I did earlier this week. I managed to "finish" 4 tracks, but I am only posting the 1st one here for now.
This is some loops and sounds I noodled around with on the Yamaha QY100 and then later finished up on the computer and used all of my other regular gear.
I kind of wish it had more structure somewhat.

Really had to rush this arrangement and mix because I did not have much time this week. There's even a whole second part that I did not have time to work on at all, but maybe it's actually better as it is now than if I had worked on it too much.

This is an outtake from this week's livestream jam session, and I hope it shows how much better it is to jam along with someone else (although noodling alone has its perks!)

Tried to make this kind of stream of consciousness harmonic mess with repetitive but out of sync loops out of last part of the streamed jam session that I did last Tuesday.
It's not perfect but I am happy with how it came out.

This week I did a major rework-remix of an old track that I submitted here in 2019 when doing the weekly challenge.
I still did a jam session stream this week that you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/trent-hawkins/telecharger-livestream-26-20211005-weekly-audiovisual-livestream-tuesdays-830pm-cet
Decided to rearrange a more energetic clip of this week's livestream.

The name has nothing to do with the song, I gave myself 5 minutes and this is the best I could come up with.
This is an edited and arranged part from the solo livestream I did last Tuesday.

Decided to give a name to our streaming project with this inaugural track thats a hypnotic kind of minimal part from our jam session this week.

I found the funk factory preset phrases in the Yamaha QY100.
Intro came out well, not sure about the rest of it - I am not so good at mixing dance music maybe.

Rushed track. This time I experimented transposing stuff to different scales-roots using the QY100.

Just a quick one from a longer jam session. I was on the road so I did not have time to work on it too much.

More experiments with the QY100. I tried an approach where I copied the song structure from another track that I like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVyTLx2e_tQ).
I like the sound in general, but I should have focused a little more on making the drums more interesting with varied rhythms and some percussion sounds. Better luck next time.

@Kedbreak136 @soulfish @Arcana Thanks all, glad you like the track.
Normally I do not use reverb so much because well I am just not used to. The reason I wanted to look into this stuff is the recent Ableton Live 11 convolution reverbs demos - I don't have Live 11 but there are plenty of free reverbs and I figured its a good idea to shape my existing sounds - the Roland XV5080 sounds good but if you listen carefully, I have been using the same presets since beginning of this year. That's getting a little lazy maybe. :)
Also regarding the genre - for me ambient is music thats relaxing to listen to, it's a very broad descriptor. For music that has no melodies or very little movement at all, I would say that is drone (a subgenre of ambient). Check out SomaFM dronezone station to see what I mean.
That's a pretty track, delicate and tasteful playing, it feels like you are treading delicately so as not to stir the water and the peace of the track. This is very nice.
Very cool track to listen to. The reverb sounds fine to me, it's lush and the textures it creates does not drown the main melody line too much.
I see reverb, I upvote :D The effect of choice for all synth ambient improvisationalists around the world.
I actually personally have a hard time trying to think of reverb as something that shapes something in a room though (but then, I also have problems with creating pure ambient music because I'm too tempted to add riffs and grooves).
As far as the track goes, I really like the overall feeling. It's very melodic and lush. It's not quite ambient to me, it has a lot of melodic and harmonic movement, but it's definitely chill and relaxing. The EP-like chimes go on and are so pleasant to listen to, not to mention that background rhythmic element.
