I was quite stuck for inspiration last night, but I stumbled upon these two chords and that provided enough juice to finish this track.

The saga continues.
I thought what if I try to very quickly make an EP out of the jam session I did earlier this week. I managed to "finish" 4 tracks, but I am only posting the 1st one here for now.
This is some loops and sounds I noodled around with on the Yamaha QY100 and then later finished up on the computer and used all of my other regular gear.
I kind of wish it had more structure somewhat.

Really had to rush this arrangement and mix because I did not have much time this week. There's even a whole second part that I did not have time to work on at all, but maybe it's actually better as it is now than if I had worked on it too much.

More experiments with the QY100. I tried an approach where I copied the song structure from another track that I like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVyTLx2e_tQ).
I like the sound in general, but I should have focused a little more on making the drums more interesting with varied rhythms and some percussion sounds. Better luck next time.

@thawkins I'll say this. Mixing is REALLY hard. I've been trying to create songs for years and I still have a terribly hard time with mixing, getting things loud enough, EQing... the whole shebang.
@Arcana Thanks for the info. In any case if you - the listener - feels that some things are off for this particular track while you can generally listen to other music and enjoy it, then the problem lies in the mastering part of my process. :)
Thanks again for the heads up, I will try to pay attention to this in the future. Some people say my mixes do not have enough high frequency stuff, and others say that there is maybe too much, so it is difficult to balance this.
@thawkins I didn't listen to this in a controlled environment. If I remember, I was listening to this in my kitchen on Bose tower speakers connected to a 100W Bluetooth amp. In many respects they're better than what many listen to music on (it's not like a laptop speaker!) but it's not a great audio setup.
The other possibility might be that some frequencies are tiring the ear more more, for example, 2-4K can be rather tiring if there's too much there.

@Arcana thanks a lot. It's surprising to me that the mix felt loud and overwhelming to you though. I think something must be different in our audio setups because I don't get that feeling at all. I think you have a point though because you are not the only one who has told me this recently. Thanks!
I like the slow buildup of this quiet track. The bass that appears around 1:56 brings some percussion before the drums enters and starts propelling the track and gives it a new life.
I like how you build different atmospheres through the track. Cool effect around 3:20 with the pad that pans from right to left. That was a nice track!
nice starting harmonies. Good textures overall. Very pleasant and relaxing. If I were to suggest an improvement, it's that things got a little loud/overwhelming about a minute in mixing-wise but I liked the composition and the minimal melody and focus on texture here. After two minutes the addition of drums really added a lot of direction.
