This was a really really quick track that I made to test out a generative plugin/rack I built for Ableton Live.
I put this thing on the rhodes, guitar and bass tracks, let it play for a while then recorded some drums.
Basically what I want to say is randomness is a great thing for kickstarting your insipiration if you are stuck. I hope you find this tool useful. :)
I played around with my MPC1000 and Volca Sample, then finished this project in Live.
Happy last day of the year, everyone.
Happy holidays!

Something more contemplative (?) for the end of year mood. I should probably go back and make this track even more shorter and minimalistic though!

Happy with this one, I hope I mixed the guitars nicely.

The saga continues.
I thought what if I try to very quickly make an EP out of the jam session I did earlier this week. I managed to "finish" 4 tracks, but I am only posting the 1st one here for now.
This is some loops and sounds I noodled around with on the Yamaha QY100 and then later finished up on the computer and used all of my other regular gear.
I kind of wish it had more structure somewhat.

Really had to rush this arrangement and mix because I did not have much time this week. There's even a whole second part that I did not have time to work on at all, but maybe it's actually better as it is now than if I had worked on it too much.

This is an outtake from this week's livestream jam session, and I hope it shows how much better it is to jam along with someone else (although noodling alone has its perks!)

Tried to make this kind of stream of consciousness harmonic mess with repetitive but out of sync loops out of last part of the streamed jam session that I did last Tuesday.
It's not perfect but I am happy with how it came out.

This week I did a major rework-remix of an old track that I submitted here in 2019 when doing the weekly challenge.
I still did a jam session stream this week that you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/trent-hawkins/telecharger-livestream-26-20211005-weekly-audiovisual-livestream-tuesdays-830pm-cet
Decided to rearrange a more energetic clip of this week's livestream.

The name has nothing to do with the song, I gave myself 5 minutes and this is the best I could come up with.
This is an edited and arranged part from the solo livestream I did last Tuesday.

Decided to give a name to our streaming project with this inaugural track thats a hypnotic kind of minimal part from our jam session this week.

I found the funk factory preset phrases in the Yamaha QY100.
Intro came out well, not sure about the rest of it - I am not so good at mixing dance music maybe.

Rushed track. This time I experimented transposing stuff to different scales-roots using the QY100.

Just a quick one from a longer jam session. I was on the road so I did not have time to work on it too much.

More experiments with the QY100. I tried an approach where I copied the song structure from another track that I like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVyTLx2e_tQ).
I like the sound in general, but I should have focused a little more on making the drums more interesting with varied rhythms and some percussion sounds. Better luck next time.

The auto generated part actually sounds not bad at all! :) I like the tone of the bells and how they ring in the space. Nice positioning of the drums also, it just works perfectly well for this track.
love the sound! cool drums too
Generative stuff is a lot of fun. I don't do a lot of it myself right now, but it was something I enjoyed doing with the modular. This has an almost ambient feel to it, could be an interesting background music.
Haha, that's also how I started my last year's weekly challenge, with generative patches in VCV Rack. I agree, it really helps getting you in shape and having a bit of momentum, completing tracks and triggering ideas :D
Nice post-rock vibe to this one.
