A submission for Daily Art Club

Went to the Berlin Mini Jam yesterday where people create games in roughly eight hours. I was on a team of three where I could focus on making the art etc. I used it to explore a different style, only using the shape tools in Photoshop.

I am not so sure about the quality of my work I did there, but it felt good to get outside for once, and, you know, interact with other people. :)

didnt draw a lot just played around in sai

Lol, nope. My breakthrough yesterday was a lie. I don't know how color works. Need to read a book or something.

First one, I started with greys, then used an overlay with just that starting green, then wrote down how that original green interacted with the greys. But for some reason I had it in my head that the new greens should just be original hue, original saturation, and the grey's value. So I wrote down what I thought the new colors "should" have been, and shaded with those, then turned it greyscale to compare to the original grey sketch. Dunno. Dunno dunno dunno. The overlay method definitely looks better to me. It's greyscale is the same as the original grey drawing. Which is what I want! But I want to understand why, rather than just using it blindly. It's a verrrryyyyy similar feeling to learning ridiculous math, and running around in circles desperate for some steady ground, and all the while the professor is completely bewildered as to what I'm even trying to accomplish.

More experiments tomorrow, I guess. Though I get the sense that I'm trying to do something that doesn't make sense and can'twork the way I think it should.

Did more of these digitally than I usually do - my felt tip pens are running low on ink and I'm running low on pages in my Newsprint pad. Next pay period I will need to pick up more of each of these items.
