i don't know whether or not i should stick with the sketchy-ness of the original that seems to have more character, or go for cleaner lineart because i really don't have patience for the latter (as evidenced below), not to mention that it looks flatter (but more anatomically correct!). i don't really seem to have that problem when I ink traditionally, maybe i just need to find out what works best for me that doesn't wear down my nerves
this was harder to draw than it looked, lol. i also went with a slightly different palette for beedo because it looked better to my eye
bonus beedo below for u ash, ur welcom

Ah! I guess we have different meanings for "clean lineart"! I'm always jealous of those who can draw a single stroke per...line. And no "holes" in the lineart. If that makes sense?? Like, I always need several strokes per "line" and it makes it look sketchy to me. And I like sketchy looks! So it doesn't bother me too much. But it'd be nice to have an alternative as well.
And while I love Ronnie, I think Nell is my fave!!! She's the cutest and the most adorable and the most determined. It's so nice when you see someone who looks like a character, though. I'd say you shoulda taken a photo, but that's prolly frowned upon haha.
@Ashly
you do pretty clean art when you draw, though! or maybe because i'm seeing the final result, it doesnt look as sketchy. like my main problem when doing lineart or coloring is losing patience, but i think the secret is taking lots of breaks or something while working!
and aw! i see why ron's your favorite. i'm totes gonna draw more of him now >:3 at work, the other day, i literally saw a customer that embodied what i imagined him to look like (hispanic, kinda tall, chubby, wore glasses, curly hair) and since then i've been wanting to redraw him
Forever ago, I bought a Clip Studio brush set that has something dumb like 200 brushes and I'm still no closer to solving that problem. I've given up for now. People who can use a fill tool to color their drawings are witches.
And teenage Ash and Ronnie have a lot in common haha! Really into wrestling, wanted to be buff, chubby/fat, no patience to lift weights.
@Ashly i think half of the problem is trying to find the right brush settings to use in Sai since most artists have their own custom settings for lineart or coloring or w/e the other problem would be simplifying my style enough to make coloring and inking easier, but I'm stubborn and like detail and sketchiness so only time will tell with what I really want to do..
And, well, Ronnie's not THAT buff, it's more of a correspondence to his inner or ideal self and I imagined he'd probably really be into wrestling (luchadors and all that) and he really admires them, but he doesn't have the time or patience to get unreasonably buff. He'd totes would love to prance around in an open shirt if he had the muscles, chicks dig muscles
I think every single time I try to do clean non-sketchy lineart I descend into madness. It's impossible. Good luck on your quest.
Anyway! These designs are great!!! I really like pawn's armor.
EDIT: WHAT. THAT'S RONNIE!? HE'S SO BUFF!
