Which one looks better??? I mean they're both sketches, so they're really messy but still. I'm trying to draw a tired/defeated character who's smiling in relief as they greet their friend. I think they look the most defeated in the first one, whereas the second one is better drawn (bc i spend more time on it lol) AKA: first one has the better emotion i'm going for, but the second one looks better.
What do you think?
doing some 3d practice before uni starts up again!! based off some old concept art for a sea creature
Im super proud of these! it was actually really fun eliminating the lineart phase. I've always hated it if im being honest xD
oops forgot to upload yesterday again D: but yeah i just worked on the lineart of this drawing, and finished colouring just this morning!

The smile certainly shows up more in the first one and I'd say exhaustion shows up more in the second one. I agree with Stephan about the angle playing a big part there (also because the smile doesn't really come across in the second one.)
Well, that is no help, but I like both. I think the relief shows more in the first one, but that could also be a 'cunning' expression.
I think the 'defeat' shows more in the second one because camera is looking down on him and he looks like he has his arms wrapped around his knees.
