Think: Gamifying mental exercises for athletes to practice or perform better.
A study published in the Journal of Neurophysiology of December 2014, ( http://jn.physiology.org/content/112/12/3219 ) showed increases in athletes performance when asked to do mental exercises such as visualizing or imagining working out.
Art of Flow is a game which takes the key notation of this study and attempts to gameify the mental preparation for those who wish to squeeze in more practice in their day to day life such as, playing the game on the public transport or on their break from work where it would be impractical or even hazardous to practice in their work environment.
Art of Flow is game which combines timing mechanics for the player to understand the step by step processes of a complex move thus through the players motivation of timing better i.e scoring better as well as the factors of replayablility and repetition to develop mental preparation for said complex move, for instance:
A Backflip:
- step 1: Bend in your knees as you bring your arms down.
- step 2: Rotate your arms upwards and jump vertically.
- step 3: Bring your knees to your chest at the highest point of the jump.
- step 4: Stop the rotation by untucking when you can see the ground underneath.
In order to obtain revenue for such a game, Art of flow could be aimed at various niches within the sports community:
- Gymnastics: How to do press handstand
- Tricking (an extreme sport of acrobatics): How to do a back flip
- Calisthenics and advanced body weight: How to do a muscle up
- Weight training: How to do a bench press properly.
