Island Hopper is an endless runner in which the player controls a kangaroo that just can't stop hopping. The player would need to guide the kangaroo through an endless stream of islands, attempting to wear him out. They would need to guide the kangaroo through various obstacles, such as forests, roads, and beaches. Hitting an obstacle would injure the kangaroo, however he would also stop hopping. This would be game over, as the poor kangaroo wouldn't be able to hop anymore. Once the player has hopped through an entire island, they would get on a boat. This would transition the game into a small pinball game, in which the player must keep the kangaroo inside the boat. If the player fails this, then the kangaroo would be thrown into the ocean. The player would then need to hop back to the island underwater, while running into air bubbles in order to let the kangaroo breathe. If the player fails this then the kangaroo will drown, also resulting in a game over. If the player keeps the kangaroo in the boat until the next island they would also be given a small amount of invincibility, knocking any obstacles out of their way. The player's score would be added to a global high score table once they finish their run, and they will be able to see how they rank against others.
