apparently openAI model/s can train itself on 'synthetic data' soon so it will gobble a bit and then create more synthetic data based on the gobblede to train itself wtf

Rain25362 days ago

hmmm ive done some more noob research on AI. currently it looks like AI is basically a sum of human intelligence. it gobbles up data and it becomes a median human.... so it is like we are spawning a alien life form into humanity. idk if comparing it to the nervous system of worm is good then. maybe algorithms is just tools and it has no soul. maybe define soul first what is hat..... i guess at point we are able to upload brain into cloud of digital is basically end of this universe and spawn of a billion new universe

Oh wow that is experimental stuff! I could hear some heavy drones and glitch spikes here and there on that. I love that kind of track.

Rain251 year ago

idk if all ai controlled by google corp that sounds complicated is ai have soul idk sure. if ai isnt conscious would that person say worm is unconscious or worm is conscious but ai not conscious has anyone defined consciousness yet maybe no one control ai or someone control ai or someone control ai and then ai overthrow person hm

yea i think the ting that is so scary bout AI for artists is that it allow the everyday person to realise they are an artist just by the art they enjoy... the AI will riff on that and create more art they enjoy.... everyone is artist just most ppl dont know it... meme..... too bad the AI all controlled by illuminati google corp baha that makes ppl hate AI dont it

house music little bit lit atm house music alright... even if i dont like drumming to it i like playing piano on it... and in more trap music side of things ppl experimenting with weirder drums and weirder scales. idk if weirder scales will be future of music... ppl raised pretty heavily on standard western scale and most the other scales sound pretty different unless just used as flourish... haha im drumming a lot now so ill say i think weirder percussion is future of music. nah future of music becomes which ai can mash shit into the best new version. ive heard criticism of AI that "AI FUCKING ONLY MASHES EXISTING SHIT INTO NEW FORMS" well what do you think artists have done for centuries? music prob becomes created ontehfly for each listener in each microsecond in 5 10 yrs so music becomes dead endeavor yea idk. mostly in music atm i like rap beats... the combo of the percussions with the harmonies melodies... rap music with that aesthetic already global so prob stay that way for a while. i rlly like this song last few months calin intro 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGInqMYM4eQ percussion centric melodic rap beat fffhhhh

thinking about music theory theres 3 genres i l bring up... phonk and slap house and wave. phonk to me is 4/4 drums with interesting percussion and good sound design and sounds in short segments... on shortform videos. i think maybe has low barrier of entry which i think is cool caus ppl can start making phonk easy and express something... is just my opinion. i dont know phonk genre has much progression. the slap house genre i think is half way between good and great caus its taking sort of housey songs and putting rhythms and phat bass etc on top of it so also i think low barrier of entry.. i dont think low barrier of entry is bad thing i think is good thing. what was the other genre... wave music... wave music might be amalgamation of a bunch of other electronic genres like trap trance progressive house i dont think this one necessarily has low barrier of entry. probably highish barrier of entry to making tracks but idk the thing i dont like so much about wave is it never peaks... kinda sorta continuous emotion throughout song with shallow peaks and then shallow dips... i prefer more extremes of something like melodic dubstep and melodic trap etc.... but in general i like all 3 genres... i think wave can evolve.... not sure how much slap house will evolve... maybe a bit... and really dont see much evolution for phonk caus its just so simple which is also cool caus lowest barrier of entry maybe on phonk. like if someone learns to produce phonk 80% that would translate into whatever else electronic music theyd want to make... yea i wonder if people are making phonk in 5 yrs or what that turns into... maybe more sounddesign-centric or percussion-centric evolves out of phonk.... i prefer phonk to riddim... riddim sounds like boring commercial shit to me... riddim to me is cashing in on ppl who liked dubstep its just everyone making the same specific noise music whereas phonk has something a bit different about it atm. i think riddim ppl even say 'ye i dont listen to riddim unless im at the festival'. i guess thats interesting... i dont think theres much experimentation in riddim personally... even if it only sounds good live according to the listener. . looks like boring ticketseller atm maybe the evolution of riddim is into the weirdest shit possible and is awesome.. not a fan of riddim but i liked dubstep which was i think the predecessor to riddim, altho i never rlly heard real dubstep. teh 3 genres aside i like pop and rap atm all i listen to is pop

ran a little test... listened to this 'miss monique' house mix i was listening to the other day... enjoyed it the other day but drumming to it was boring... then put on some beats and drummed to the beats and preferred it... even tho hadnt heard the beats in a while. it was nick mira beats which i used to listen to all the time so i sort of did kno what was happening. think this experiment shows i prefer drumming to hiphop even if i enjoy listening to 4/4. i wonder if other drummers also know what the fuck is up.... im gonna lodge a new music theory to the panel of musical theory. i love music theory just most of my music theories arent very gud theories they more just... hypotheses... idk theory is so good i just havent learned any yet i think. or maybe ive learned a lot. if you make a lot of music how much theory do you learn by osmosis. might be the center of my hypothesis but idk i find music theory lacking not music i am big fan of musical theory. music theory is good money ill agree with that ... is it gud music yea... everyone love classical turn on the radio all beef oven all the time. beathoven only classical i like... and mozart... think i prefer beethoven to mozart but its all down to i love music theory i wann learn some song structure for hardstyle the exact methods of distortion are a theory create peak with eq distort that possibly assymmetrically. is music theory science or not has anyone discovered this. im going to try 'adding a seventh' then i will kno the breadth of musical thoeyr

why not write songs? too much of a perfectionist or idk i just find songwriting hard and boring... maybe after some more drumming the ideas will get longer naturally... hope so i like listening to songs just find writing long ideas not that enjoyable, probably after i have a good idea of how to make percussions i might write some longer ideas. i dont think theres much difference between a 1 minute idea and a 3 minute idea for electronic music caus its mostly loops or repeated sections with slight differences.... but still songwriting not something 3 minute things theres gonna be a lot of things i dont know caus i havent written longer ideas. i think the 1 minute things i make might help a little but songwriting probably a whole different beast. ive tried to formulaicly write songs and its not something ive enjoyed. but there might be ways to formulaicly write songs and enjoy it.... im thinking percussion is pretty important for electronic music and until a few weeks ago im only now starting to sort of feel like im getting more into percussion so that might help. not that u have to play drums to learn songwriting or percussion but i think it might be the way i like doing it... so far anyway. ill probably plateau in drumming soon and ill want to make some electronic music instead. my piano playing fairly plateaued. but i get pain from playing piano with broken finger on each hand so thats also part of it... the broken fingers doesnt affect the drumming which is niiiice. i could play piano without broken fingers but its gonna be abstract af caus it does help having all 10 fingers for piano at least. ive tried getting into guitar but i dont think its something ill stick with for now... that could prob replace piano for me eventually. lol to me guitar looks harder than piano or drums. fucking weird instrument with 6 different strings u have to remember 6 different little keyboards all stacked up next to each other. idk why people think piano is complicated... notes all lined up next to each other easy. and guitar you have to mangle your hand into contorted shapes to hit chords... guitar way more fucked than piano. tips of fingers get worn out by the strings... are guitar and piano only melody instrument where you can play multiple notes at once... pretty sure

Rain251 year ago

after more drumming i think i wanna get back into analyzing composition or structure again never did much of that. try and make a few tracks in a 10-20 genres... after having done some of the drums that might be pretty enjoyable... get more into using different synth sounds. probably not even sound design, using serum presets or samples.

rough list of genres i can think of trying to study: melodic dubstep, dnb, trap, cyberpunk, hardstyle, garage, progressive house, trance. idk if i wanna try swinging drums in midi. never tried that maybe try that. only about 10 genres i might want to find more genres. there was a giant list of 500 electronic music genres on wikipedia maybe i pick a few off that. ill probably get bored of studying genres after about half an hr. i like the idea of using all different synth presets though, maybe something to do with that

Rain251 year ago

other things i might try is cutting all the cable-ties that came outthebox bundling all the cables neatly together on the electronic drumkit i use. then can plug any drum into any other drum. could have the kit set up with snare on foot-pedal, low tom on other foot pedal, etc to break up muscle memory.

or could not use the drumbrain and instead use midi port to computer with midi instrument/s for each drum then can customize each drum easier

with electronic drum kits, they could add a shitload more drums... theyve approximated the size and layout of a normal drumkit with the kit i have... but you could have twice as many drums and make the pads smaller, square pads or circle pads or whatever works. idk if theres any new electronic drum kits like this. that might be pretty good. grow a third arm maybe. i know ive seen square pads just on a flat plane but im more thinking of a whole kit setup that would somehow be comfortable to play more like the layout of normal drumkit with drums laid out in a sort of spherical shape around the front of the player. ~10 drums is probably more than enough though it might be more abstract music to have 20 drums. or keyswitches to change the layout of 10 drums slightly in midi software on the fly... yea idk normal drumkit is pretty dank tho... so much music made off the ideas of what is possible for human to play on standard drumkit.

idk what benefits/downsides are of electronic kit vs acoustic. the noise aspect of electronic being easier on neighbors. the electronic kit has all the rims as squishy rubber so i havent even broken a stick yet. isnt breaking drumsticks common for acoustic players? is that from smashing the stick into the metal rim ? drumbrain i use has 10 different soundbanks, sometimes i play in one of the other soundbanks, lately just been using the 1st soundbank all the time though. with electronic drum kit if you get a midi instrument then you have all the customization options for tweaking instruments or velocity responses of each drum etc, that might be an upside of electronic kit for some people... like ive said i mostly just use the standard 1st soundbank caus its pretty much the best-sounding one. some of the other soundbanks are fun to mess around in occasionally

Rain251 year ago

could use stem ripper AI algorithm like demucs 4 to take all the drums out of songs, then jam over that. would probably be really good, might try this later. i know demucs 4 can isolate drums really well, might be awesome

below comment is the code for the drum selector i was talking about, in autohotkey programming language code. the UniqueRands function i got from some forum post so shout out.. forum user 'VxE' on autohotkey forum... its a function so it ie doesn't pick kickdrum twice when selecting e.g. 5 drums for u to play.

like i was talking about in the comment 2below, main goal of the script is just to generate a random number of drums and which specific drums to play, with loose goal being to break existing muscle memory and forming new muscle memory with new limitations. ill prob try using the script for ~100 hrs while playing along with music... generate a new set of drum options to play with each new song. i might narrow it so it always picks 4-6 options instead of 1-9 options caus playing 1-3 drums might be a little too limiting... 7-9 drums might be not limiting enough

i havent made it a pretty script. i just remember e.g. 1=right foot pedal, 2=left foot pedal, 3 = snare drum, 4 = hihat, 5 = crash, etc. might be a nicer script if you put an array or if/else in so it said the names of the drums instead of just listed numbers

i dont think this type of exclude-some-notes script would be interesting for playing piano or guitar but for drums i think it works pretty well after trying for half hour. for piano/guitar ive tried more just jamming over 1 chord progression. and you can have randomizer to choose chord progression i guess... but not playing certain notes of piano just means u end up playing in non-western scale and most ppl only interest in playing/listening to standard minor scale or even major scale but thats most music

another thing about randomizers like these is it might have crappy result ~60% of the time so you have to run it a couple times til it spits out good combination. or if it recommends e.g. only 3 drums e.g. low tom, crash, hihat... you could just use those 3 for intro of song then try add other drum hits in, or just use randomizer as rough guide

another random tip about drumming over music - prob try n play over music youve listened to a fair few times... i dont find it all that enjoyable drumming to something ive never heard. whereas with piano i sometimes enjoy jamming over music i dont know that well/havent heard before... idk if this is caus ive played way more piano than drums or because percussion is harder to anticipate than chord/melody structure. but ye prob try n make playlist of 200-1000 songs you know well. i had a playlist of ~80 songs i really like but it gets pretty dull playing over them now so you really want something like 1000 if possible... if you're playing for an hr every day or whatever... need 300-1000 songs maybe or u gonna get stale on it maybe. idk if id recommend playing drums every day... maybe every other day... depends on what works for you. drums can be painful instrument if you play every day until u learn really good technique but ye NEVER PLAY AND INSTRUMENT WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH UR DOCTOR U WIL FUKIN DIE CUNT NEVER PLAY INSTRUMENT WITHOUT GETTING LESSONS FROM TRAINED PROFESSIONAL NEITHER YOU WILL ALSO FUKIN DIE CUNT. nah i just wouldnt get lessons caus music education sucks the joy out of music in my hippy opinion. idk if my drum technique is good. its probably pretty bad. i hold the sticks really far back atm so dont take my advice get a teacher i just bang the wood bit on the rubber drum thing and it make the noise cunt. idk how u get a good music teacher. 1800 music teacher. if theres a teacher who only does technique of striking action that would be pretty good. prob wouldnt have many students. theres a lot of downsides to not having a teacher. the main downside is you can make whatever music you want weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

im opening a drum school, pick a random 2 limbs (6 options total) and play drums over music u listen to. (probably trap music for best results caus trap got only good drums these days)

by limbs i mean pick right arm and left foot pedal and just play left foot pedal and any drum with right hand for 5 min over trap music, then switch the 2 limbs to another of the total 6 combinations

if youre playing e.g. left hand and left foot, put righthanded drumstick on ground and take right foot off right pedal and place next to pedal on ground so you dont throw in right hand and right foot without thinking about it while doing exercise. exercise is jam abstractly over edmtrap music mix etc. helps if youve listened to the music before, school for abstract drumming. think with this method you learn rudiments naturally and you get really great coordination between each 2 limbs around all the drums, coordination and speed between each pair of limbs

sad piano, made by clicking into computer. i felt a lil inspired while making this

this is weird track because it was clicked in piano notes but theres a lot of automation for just one piano. theres overdrive automation from 0-4% at one point. theres ott automation. theres eq peak automation. utility automations as well. some velocities. had the 1 minute loop going and automated stuff to taste! valhalla shimmer reverb

[Volume Warning] NOT MIXED bit suddenly loud in a couple transitions, esp drop

another unfinished sketch ill prob never finish

liked the progression on this. its about as simple as it gets. bassline is 6-6-1-1.... anything with 6 and 1 always gonna be a progression i like. i might stick to a few simple progressions like this and make a lot of ideas.... need to add more elements and flesh out these more

idk if these type of melodies work that well with trap drums... might try make more 4/4 drums. i always think the melodies i write work better with 4/4 drums, then i get bored of making 4/4 drum music so ill prob just keep swapping back and forth between 4/4 and trap drum. or i could try and learn to write specifically melodies for trap drums

trailerish music, open to roast.

dunno bout the high pitched oboes.... the way the drums come in kind of shit... drums in general kind of shit... chords could have used different voicings in places esp in lower-frequencies... piano in intro prob been better as different instrument... melod/ies fairly trash... liked making the drums and fx arrangement

using a randomizer to decide chord progressions. the randomizer picks 4 chords. has 3 paths. either 1 - 1 - x - x, 1 - x - x - x, or x - x - 1 - 1. decent amount of the music i listen to fits in one of these 3 progression formats, maybe ~30-60% idk. the x's can be any bass note. but usually have to run the randomizer 1-4 times before it spits out a decent chord progression... this is just for minor chord progression songs... 1 being root note of minor scale

havent been producing lately

ive found new love for playing electronic drumkit........ playlist of 500 songs and i abstract play drums over the top of it. i have about 200-500hrs experience with this type of learning. i would say its a good way of learning percussion but i like abstract. mostly, i skip songs in the playlist that are 4/4 drums. anything hip hop or rap or trap is a lot more fun to play along with. it carries over into my piano playing a lot, i noticed last night after playing half hour of drums then into piano... the piano playing was way different, playing some weirder or completely new rhythms on the notes

i need to cull the playlist into hip hop songs i think caus its not 500 songs its 10000 songs or something im pressin N ON VLC a bit too much...

i listened to russian pop top hits playlist today... it was all shit. why is russian pop music crap on youtube playlist i was listening, used to be good maybe i got the wrong playlist

has anyone heard any real good music released in last 2 yrs? i cant think of much. i liked 10:35 by tiesto but thats some pop. has a cool music video too. im down for any genre id just try and shoe horn it into the last 2 yrs

lazy post took 20 minutes sounds like shit. only thing i liked bout this one was the cinematic buildup like dsh dsh dsh dsh d d d d....... just from cinematic sample pack but lots of those cinematic riser/woosh/impact samples fo pretty hard. actually was cinematic sample but then just cut it up with silence for the d d d d part. apart from that critique on this one is boring track added 10 seconds of garbage at the end to make it one minute long. the garbage at the end might be the part i like more bout htis

3rd and 4th file upload was gonna be trying to make a zeropass type track... ended up just sounding like what i usually make, but with triangle wave. not used to portamento, might be good for arps. used everywhere theres an artist called mitis uses lots of portamento in his arps... and leads... havent got the hang of writing for portamento leads. liked the vocal quality of triangle wave

[VOLUME WARNING] not mixed

Tried to stick to what comes easiest - basic chord progression with piano.

I've been using the valhalla shimmer reverb frequently, finding it inspiring with the long reverb tails from this plugin. Also being inspired by trailer music.

Open to roast. I can't really figure out how to MIX everything... EQing in general... maybe also if i tweak even one of the track volumes itll mess up e.g. a grouptrack saturation etc. probably need to plan out tracks more as i make them and make sure things arent clipping more often. the grouptrack saturation is something i saw in a fox stevenson stream. saturating the lead and bass together and it sounds pretty gnarly having them both go into the same saturator... but then makes mixing harder maybe. i mean ive already got reverb and other distortion on the lead before its getting this saturation with the bass... might need to rethink signal flow to use this technique. anyway im happy with this small step of progress making a 1min 45 track. the chord progression is 6-7-1-1 if 1 is the rootnote of minor scale... think its used quite a lot in modern electronic music. pretty sure theres a lil nas x song with this progression... virtual self porter robinson song has this bass progression... i guess its just a bassline so the chord progression might be something completely different... but its a nice simple bass progression. the 1 doesnt hit til the end of it its always moving forward

looking ideally for constructive feedback... whats the weakest aspect of the track... what needs improve... these are the types of feedback id ask for
