This is a much more "textural" track than my usual melodic ones, as I like to experiment with timbre as well as slow moving sounds. The tracks starts with intensity (a simple orchestral chord) but then synths add and overwhelm the strings and brass. I keep changing presets on the synth (a VST called OBxD - much recommended as it is also free) to create interest and movement - the notes for it are pretty random playing on a keyboard. The piece finishes with a bell synth part, I dare not say Pink Floyd-esque :)
Three tracks of guitar again, but this time with the home-built Res-O-Glas. The Lace Alumitones have a kind of Danelectro-lipstick quality to them. There's a slightly larger reverb (with less send) and the usual Wide&Warm multi band compression/eq on the stereo mix.
The title comes from the former highway 479 in Pittsburgh, Crosstown Boulevard. (It was renumbered a couple times, finally becoming 579.)
A track mostly improvised. Some of the clarinette and violin lines are a bit cringey but I liked the fact that it's mostly played live on a keyboard (and I cannot play the keyboard, as everyone can attest to).
The main piano line reminds me of some bowie tracks from the Scary Monsters era (not as good) but that inspired me to that kind of atmosphere.
I have an odd week where I'm going away for the second half of it.. which creates a little more of a "time crunch" for me with regards to music.
I. really enjoy some of things I came up with for this track though. Some melodies feel really nice. I would have liked more time to make it all come together more cohesively tbh.. but maybe I will revisit this song in the future..
thx for reading/listening!
