Streak Club is a place for hosting and participating in creative streaks.
I've been squatting on a personal domain for about a year now, and I keep meaning to put some of those sexy Hs, Ts, Ms and Ls up on it, but never got around to it. Now I am. Mostly just implementing the functionality right now so there's not too much to show, but I'll post my link and screenshots as soon as it's ready. In other news, my pull request still hasn't been accepted, and the dev hasn't said anything about it yet either. I'm assuming he's pretty busy, he did get an Epic Mega Grant and everything.
That's all for now folks. G'night.
Today I attended the first meeting of my University's Game Development Club. Met some local game devs, and most of them use Unity, with a few that don't know anything, two Unrealers, and one Godot dude. Looking forward to working with them!
Lol I found streak club again. Nobody's posted here in a while. Did it always have a dark theme? It feels new. Haven't been up to much gamedev-wise recently, and I don't really have anything to say. I just thought it'd be funny to make a random submission when nobody's using this platform.
I spent the last week on vacation, and away from computers, hence why I didn't submit anything during that period of time.
Today was an exciting day, I submitted my first pull request on GitHub! As soon as the main man commits it to the master branch, (if he does) you can see https://www.raylib.com/cheatsheet/cheatsheet.html with new styling and a dark theme! Hoo rah!!
Have a joyous rest of your day, or a restful night's sleep! Peace out.
But there are now nude sausages to jump on in our game. That's all I got done today. :( Good night and good luck tomorrow folks.
Today I woke up at 6am and went on a hike with some friends until 4:30pm and then slept until 7:30pm so there wasn't too much time for game development. I did some researching on setting up paypal and stuff for my company so I can take peoples money (even though I can't make anything that anybody would want to pay for) and then messed around in Blender for a bit. Now I'm probably going to stay up too late trying to raylib and rust to work, or getting more progress on the lrj game jam game or something. Don't forget to breath. Goodnight.
Today I spent about an hour on trying to make art that fit the Jam game me and Keane are working on, but hated it all and threw it away. Then I moved on to starting to work with Raylib in Rust, but it just errored me away. If anyone has experience with this, hit me up in the comments and I will be eternally greatfull. In my time poking around the docs, I came across the cheatsheet - https://www.raylib.com/cheatsheet/cheatsheet.html and decided to spend the next portion of my time creating a dark theme for it. I'll work on cleaning it all up (with a toggle) and submitting it as a pull request to raylib.com's github tomorrow (or whenever I get to it). For now, Stylus users, I'll add the CSS as a comment to this post so you can add it to your pile. I also looked into the github for Streak.club to see if I could edit the api by myself, but had a hard time finding my way around the document since it's written in the dev's own scripting language "moonscript". I really hope I can get it linked to Robot Avis soon, I think it would generate a lot more traffic here. That's all I got done in today's free time, not too productive. Check back tomorrow! Peace.
Yesterday, me and @Keane48#5421 started working on our entry to the 2020 Low Rez Jam; a 3 week long game jam where the game's screen must be 64 pixels wide and 64 pixels tall. Our idea is to take some little monkey dude named Briun and have him climb a mountain of hotdogs or something. It'll be great. Trust me. Also check out our WIP gif.
Also kinda slowly making progress on Robot Avis' Streak Club feature, but the API is not complete yet and I haven't heard from the developer in a while so we'll see. Other than that, life goin along. Code well, and Good Night.
Been doing some art here and there to keep from going crazy and my nonexistent skills sharp, but mostly just been doing homework. Next week is my AP exams, I'm not worried about my AP Java test, but AP Lang could use all of your prayers. I'm a math guy... As soon as my classes lighten up I'll be doing a lot more dev and have a lot more to show for it. Aight Thanks for reading, and have a good day.
Oh! And if you use inkscape, give this video a watch!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwilw97pR6k
It's pretty great! (also I figured out another tip: I think under Objects, you click Objects, and it opens a hierarchy similar to that in Blender and a game editor. Super useful and I wish I knew about it sooner. Bye!
Lol, not only was my last post on day 42.0, this is post number 69 so I am officially cooler than all of you. Also, this is the first time I've made 2 posts in a row :cool_dude_face:
Along with catching up on my homework (uggghhh) I've been looking into bringing streak club api into the discord bot! Nobody's ever done it before, and I've never done any backend work or touched any apis before, so I have no idea what I'm doing! Hooray! I also did a little bit of inkscape work, but not enough to be mentioned in this post. Alright, goodbye.
(Submission 69 feels nice)
Lol today is day 42.0 Nice.
I finally broke out my Elegoo super starter arduino kit and I'm on my way to be the next world famous computer engineer. I made the on board light blink! I was too lazy to set it up with a breadboard and other components, so that part will have to wait. I had a cool idea of a game console with a big game engine library inside of it (making actual game files way smaller) and putting the games' code on RFID chips so that you can just have all the "cartridges" in a box next to your console and they'd all appear there. I've always wanted to make something super low level.
Don't hold your breath for any updates on it though, I'm still drowning in homework. I have a 3000 word chapter to a book for creative writing due at the end of next week, as well as work for my other 7 classes...
Peace!
Whelp, another 3 rows have gone by without a submission... Sorry...
I'm drowning in homework right now for some reason, and I'm using this submission to procrastinate and distract myself from it! How fun! Since my last entry, I joined and failed to submit to 2 game jams, JamCraft and Gamedev.js, both of which I was super excited for but was too busy to make anything for. Slow but sure progress on my game engine, I wonder how many years it will take to get done? Oh well, at least I'm learning a thing or two... I hope... Ah well, Catcha on the flip side.
P.S. I'm also seeing if I can get Streak.club's devs to set up some sort of API so we can easily streamline all posts and reminders to the Decade Jam discord via AvisBot, but I don't think I have too much luck with doing that. We'll see!
Still working on my game engine, hopefully I'll have something working before the end of the jam. Custom keybindings are all sorted out (took quite a while), and I've started working on how the hierarchy and the file repository sections of the screen are going to look. I've also made some icons for the different file types (images, sound files, fonts) with inkscape. I think I've got all my business papers together now, so maybe the end of this week or the next I'll head in to town and set up a bank account. Oh, and also you can finally drag and drop files onto the screen. That took ages to write. Cool, maybe I'll remember to do this tomorrow and start a streak! (Spoiler: I won't remember to, especially before the strict 10pm deadline). Peace!
Darn it. I missed the devlog deadline by 2 hours... Oh well, I'll have to try harder from now on.
Today I completely rewrote how theming works in my game engine, it went from >200 lines to 20. Also now I can plug any new css file in there and it will work without me having to change the code (that didn't happen before) so that's cool!
I also think I'm onto a solution to exporting the games as js files. Writing js code of what I code the code to be with more js is very extra dimensional and big brain. Okay, goodnight!
Today I got my EIN for my gamedev LLC, so next week I'll be able to set up a bank account for it and start accepting income!
I learned how to use Inkscape today, it's pretty simple. Made some icons for my game engine, and used this tutorial series to help me along: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqazFFzUAPc5lOQwDoZ4Dw2YSXtO7lWNv
Currently on episode 7, it's a great watch.
Also while playing around I made this little floaty dude

Don't get your hopes up. I've had a pull request on one repo sitting unmerged since 2013 despite multiple comments from people saying it fixed the bug.
