Kintsukuroi:
(n.) (v. phr) "to repair with gold"; the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken.
Play in a world where people break like pottery. Instead of doctors there ceramic repairers. Many common illnesses that exist in this world don't exist in this kingdom. The main danger to a person is smashing into pieces in an unfortunate fall, or at least until a horrific plague struck.
When someone suffers a break from a fall or a violent encounter they are taken to potters where they will be placed back together with adhesives. The commoners will get glued back together with glue, or get clay graphs (like skin graphs), whereas nobles and rich lords will be repaired with gold or silver. This means that a commoner can never disguise themselves as a lord or lady if they have a noticeable broken piece on their body. Sometimes the less fortunate people that suffer breakages will end up with parts missing if the pieces cannot be recovered.
There is a giant plague sweeping the kingdom, no one knows how to stop it, it breaks down the structure in the body and causes one to crumble to pieces at the slightest knock. The royal family is powerless to make any difference to the death toll that is quickly rising, creating riots and general upset in the commoners quarters of the city. One day a riot gets far too out of hand and the palace is stormed.
Playing as the young princess, the only child to the king and queen you must flee the castle and start on a journey to find a cure for the plague before it strikes you as well.
The play of the game involves a lot of travelling and quest completion in the general rpg fantasy style. The main goal of the game is to travel from town to town in the kingdom and collect information and leads while not revealing your identity as to not draw danger towards you as there is still much anger directed towards the members of the royal family. There will be the option to befriend companions and bring them with you on your quest once you trust them enough, or vice versa. Travel through the great sprawling land and find a cure before it's too late and be sure to take care not to break yourself along the way!
