The game is a first person photographer which gamifys the art of photography and cinematography as the player role plays the character: Nigel CornBerry whose task is to stealthily take amazing photos of rare and unique species of animals in their unique habitat for the Animal Geographic magazine.
Birdwatcher presents a refreshing take on a non-combat first person shooting genre, with each photo assignment the player can purchase different gear and lure equipment to attract the species to come closer.
Different Habitats present different obstacles to overcome e.g The animal in question could live in the deep oceans so you have limited time window to take your shots between air refills.
Animals could be spooked by the aspect of sight, sound and smell as your have to move closer to obtain a better shot.
Camera gear have their own advantages and disadvantages e.g A camera lens could make the animal stand out within the photo but the the player doesn't have a tripod to prevent the photo coming out blurry.
With each mission the player will receive further funding ( determined by the quality of the photos taken ) to go towards better camera gear, lures.
Players could save favorite photos from the assignment into a photo album or "Portfolio".
Some assignments would be costly so the assistance of sponsors may be required but the success rate of obtain further funding is reviewed on how well the "portfolio" is as well requiring to do photo assignments for them.
