In MEGATON you play the part of a very lazy US army infantryman in the mid 1950's.
After helping complete and ready a fake town near the test site of a nuclear weapon, you decide to take a nap.
Waking up to sirens, you realize you've overslept. Horribly, horribly overslept. You now have a grand total of three minutes to survive the soon to be very real nuclear blast. Have Fun!
The game's focus is on split second decision making, where every pause is a life or death decision. The player will have an inventory, and will be able to craft small items to help, like crowbars and rams to enter rooms or houses faster. The game starts in the bedroom of a randomly generated house in a small town. While the playable area would actually be several square kilometers, the time constraint will mean the player will likely not see most of this and will give a sense of scale to the area. The buildings will have preset designs, but will vary with each game. This is also true for items and their locations.
The game will feature several levels of success, from partial injury, death by radiation, death from burns, death from sodding great nuclear explosion, etc. all the way to complete success, where you waltz out of the mushroom cloud like a character from Fallout.
And no, fridges aren't bomb proof, though you're welcome to try.
