Society of Control is an action/management game where the player controls a modern criminal organisation trying to typically take control of governments and businesses, though threatened by other similar organisations.

The player must manage digital and physical intelligence networks in a management game style, while executing missions to further their organisation and goals. These facets are heavily linked - the intelligence networks provide information on the whereabouts and plans of governments and other criminal organisations, which the player must use to plan their missions. These missions in turn give the player (directly or indirectly) money.

The mission aspect of the game involves the player taking control in a first-person shooter style, of members of their organisation stationed in various locations around the game world. The player can switch to other members at any time during a mission, allowing for very complicated plans to be executed over a large area.
