Other Weekly Music Events and Communities To Check Out

I wanted to share some other weekly/monthy events like Weekly Music in case people are interested in visiting other communities. Each of these has a Discord as well so you can discuss tracks with people in real-time.

If you're interested in doing more practice and get real-time feedback on tracks (or if you want to cheat and get a Weekly Music track done in two hours or less), there are a number of compos that you might be interested in checking out:

One Hour Compo: A long-standing tradition in the demoscene is to create a song in an hour. One Hour Compo has been running for years and gets 10+ participants every Thursday evening (Eastern time). Great way to get really, really good at making music fast. http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/OHC

Two Hour Track Sunday: A group of people on Reddit decided it would be fun to create track in two hours based on a video theme and now they've done over 350 of these. http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/2HTS

90-minute compo (90MC): If you want to either crank out a track during the day (Eastern time) or in the evening (if you live in Europe) then give yourself an hour and a half to do so. This is a newer compo and it has a smaller number of participants but it's a good time to join up and meet people. http://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/90MC

Mix Challenge: For people looking for an opportunity to dive in a little deeper, the Mix Challenge gives you a month to compose and/or mix. The Mix Challenge is sponsored, so if you win, you actually get a real prize (usually plugins). https://mix-challenge.com/

Chips Compo: Chips Compo is back and running songwriting events! Their website looks empty, but they're doing it again (you just need to register). One thing that's cool about Chips Compo is that their feedback system incentivizes participants to leave feedback so you often get really detailed comments about your submissions. https://chipscompo.com/

As we all know, regular practice makes you better and feedback makes you better. I like Weekly Music because the community is small and people are helpful and a week is enough time to try out some new ideas and experiment, but sometimes you want that push of a deadline or that immediacy of having to work on the first idea you get. Hope you consider checking some of these out.

Thank you for these!
