I wrote a blog post on how to compose music without knowing music theory or how to play an instrument. I think it's going to be too basic for most of the people participating here, but I thought I'd share.
One challenge that I have with writings like this is that it's difficult to share this content. Most "specialist" communities about music already have some presumption that you're starting or have some interest in the topic.
I know that when I started writing, a big problem I had was understanding or listening enough to write music that sounded "like something". For example, it was really hard to get something to sound "trance" or "orchestral" from an instrumentation point of view. I think that's why "MIDI chord packs" are becoming super popular these days.
