I got some grey brush pens and decided to experiment with shading with them. I don't like them :( I was expecting an actual brush tip, not a marker-y tip. Guess I'll stick with the ole brush and ink wash.

I had noticed!!! I think I bought the same 3-pack (plus waterbrush) as you, even. I have trouble controlling the flow in them. And I got frustrated by the lack of a really light ink, so I kinda gave up on them and turned to trying to makes my own ink washes. (Though, I did succeed in emptying the sepia one and putting my own ink in there and it's not dried out several months later. So whenever I make some washes I like, I might risk ruining these brushpens by putting my own trio of values in them.)

I'd actually just this week bought some jars to finally finish this ink wash quest, so now my desk is a mess of inks and jars and me trying to find something I'd like to work with.

Y'all ink users make the greys and sepias look so good!

  1. I agree, those "brush" marker things take time to get used to (I haven't given up on them just yet) . Try the "Pentel colour brush", it actually has brush bristles. I have a grey and a sepia, and I've used them a lot lately, as you may have noticed ;-)
