you become Jean-Pierre Grimard, a young French soldier fighting at the battle of Verdun, you have the task of retrieving a pigeon who was carrying high value information, which was shot down in No Man´s Land
You crawl for 600 metres of mud, corpses, rats and barbed wire
when you reach the pidgeon and retrieve the note you see a german soldier crawling towards you and you quickly shoot him, when you kill him you realize he also shot you
you are wounded and far from ally help

-gameplay-
You have to crawl back to the French-held trenches (600m)
Using only the space bar you have to tap it when your path is free from dangers
there are many hazards including; Artillery, gunfire, spotlights which if seen you will be shot multiple times.
Trough the way you can find medpacks which will slightly heal you, if you find 3 medpacks you´ll be able to drag fellow wounded soldiers back to the trenches

*you can find notes from fallen soldiers that were meant to be sent home

"We had no communication with the rear for three days and nights because the bombardment did not let up. We were not even able to get our rations and we only ate biscuits and chocolate and there was almost nothing to drink; finally we were able to get our rations but with a lot of difficulty; therefore, we're glad to get out of here because we've been completely brutalized by the bombardment; one has to have a strong heart to endure such a martyrdom. This is not war, it's a massacre. Oh! when will it end? It's terrible to see what's happening... "

*capturing a german soldier
-you and your men interrogate him when you arrive at the trenches
He reveals where the ammo depots are, your unit´s officer orders an artillery strike
The war ends 1 month earlier , saving countless French lives thanks to you
