my dream has happened. people are releasing 'music' at only 1 minute long. i can soon call myself a real artist according to the new standard. so i can keep making 1 minute songs. the stuff i enjoy writing yaaaayyy
@Kedbreak136 haha i agree, the buildup is actually the only part i like when it hits at 0:45. i know what ur talking about, just gotta get the rest of the track in that vibe! i can do it. i might try start more tracks from buildup even. its the rising eq automation that does it, i swear: a simple lowpass rising in frequency. u have a good ear for this type of nonsense

my philosophy on making music. caus ive made a lot of music. 1000s of hours of playing piano. probably a thousand hours in the daw i dunno. is i pretty much make the same things over and over. so now ive found something im not used to using: the pads. so ill get better at that for a while. sometimes i think id benefit from spending a whole year just making buildup drums. not very practical idea but eh
im not really focusing on specifics at the moment. i feel like the 3 important things for the electronic music i wanna make are
sound-selection
arrangement
possibly layering? but this is also just sound-selection
i dont really care about midi patterns all that much and whether they work or not. the other 3 things are more what im focused on. ive played drums and piano so i sort of have enough experience on drums and melodies and harmonies so im not really interested in the actual midi patterns. and im definitely not too concerned with things like sound-design or weird effects. but this will probably change in a year or a month, i dont know. i dunno if id prescribe "only focusing on sound selection and arrangement" to everyone. but its what i find works for me at the moment

@rain26 interesting, I never thought of automating the frequency range of the EQ for a buildup. I’ll need to try that up.

i like the track mrjay remix of 'playboi carti - philly' at the moment
i use a lot of Echo Sound Works serum1 presets, especially wanna get better at using the pads from them
mostly want to keep combining presets together in one minute arrangements. want to use more piano. want to use the presets ive set as 5 stars in serum
i do really enjoy making 1 minute to 1 minute 30s arrangements though
most of it is phonk/whatever the new percussion genre is. i dont really make that genre
