Genre: Exploration
Platform: PC console.
The primary objective is to travel across a vast, procedurally generated world, exploring new territories and managing the train's resources. There are levels and the player must reach a destination. Unlocking new parts of the map in the process.
The player controls the train's speed, allowing them to travel at their preferred pace. A slow pace consumes less fuel but makes the journey longer, while a fast pace consumes more fuel but covers ground quickly. This lets the player decide their risk-reward strategy.
At various points on the tracks, the player will encounter junctions or switches. They must decide which path to take.
Short Path: These routes are generally safer and more predictable. They contain a reliable but limited amount of resources, allowing the player to sustain their journey without much risk.
Long/Dangerous Path: These routes are less predictable and may lead to new, unexplored areas. They have fewer guaranteed resources but hold the potential for rarer, more valuable resources or unique discoveries. Choosing these paths is a high-risk, high-reward decision.
The most critical resource is coal. The train's movement is entirely dependent on it. Players must constantly monitor their coal supply and make strategic decisions about which path offers the best opportunity to refuel. Other resources could be introduced later, such as water for the steam engine or materials for track repair.
