unfortunately, it seems like escaping unity is just not going to be as simple as i would like.
for the second week in a row, the group i've been watching the unreal class with has had to cancel. this is a pretty big let down since i was hoping the class would be the big motivator and guarantee some progress towards gaining competency. i just haven't had the drive to push through it myself, and there are so many other things to learn that aren't even specific to unreal.
one of those things are shaders, and since both unity and unreal use HLSL, there's no harm in following a tutorial for unity right now. so i will! https://github.com/Xibanya/ShaderTutorials
i'm mostly reading until i hit the point where there's something i know i want to experiment with myself... and since i have some vrchat avatar bases sitting around that i've wanted to try shading, this is the perfect opportunity!
