i did decide to flip the walking and sprinting. walking will have a hold or toggle input on keyboard but will have NO special input for controller, because the joystick on a controller can simply be pushed halfway to walk.
i realize now that flipping this will be useful both because it means the sprint can be assumed to be "default" action so that the game can be designed around sprinting being the player's natural movement speed AND it frees up a controller input.
no gif today just because it would look no different from yesterday's. i've slumped a little into wanting to play some games and watch some videos, but i'm still managing to open unity before the night is over. updates will likely be small.
