The temple itself could be difficult to attain, for the lagoon was deep and home to many sea-creatures which could upset the ceremonial barks and the grounds surrounding and approaching the temple arch were either treacherous shifting tidal sands, like as not to trap a man beyond aid, or under three fathoms of water.
It was a constant source of amusement for initiates that a mountain people such as themselves would include with their training the almost unheard-of (amongst the peoples of Suurra) skill of swimming, and sundry ancient arts of revival, should any of them fall prey.
But Oru knew the deadly seriousness, though few initiates should ever find themselves in need thereof.
