You play the servant of the Nameless Spirit called Jack, living in an industrial steampunk city. The entity is known by many as being one of many spirits now thought to be nothing but myth, but some still serve and pray to the old spirits, and the ones that pray to the Nameless Spirits are answered when they pay the price. After giving your soul to the Nameless Spirit to exact revenge, you are rewarded his white mask which gives you the power to replicate the identity of man or women you see, changing your whole appearance and voice in an instance.
This is a game played in both 3rd person and 1st person, switching between the 2 depending on what part of the game you're in, you dont control the camera change but you can still control its direction. In the nearly all the action sequences, quick time events and chase/run scenes the camera pulls you into an immersive 1st person view and when combined with VR the sudden change in the way you have to play keeps the player on his/her feet, whilst in 3rd person you feel you are more playing the nameless spirit watching the player from the constant distance occasionally remarking on the situation (this aids in story, as a guide and or clues as what to do or where to go, and tips on how to first play the game). This unusual dynamic of switching the player from 3rd to 1st person(sometimes at unexpected times) makes the player think more creatively in the way they accomplish things.
Playing mostly the role of an assassin you must use your greatest power of changing your appearance to accomplish your goals. You may be after information, helping someone or killing someone, either way you are always pushed to avoid being caught as you can only steal the identities of people you've recently seen, and if people become too suspicious of you the spell breaks and you revert back to a man wearing the white mask.
