The Secret of the Seahorses is an FPS/puzzle game set in a world where a seahorse race inhabits the ocean. The player, who is of course a seahorse and a member of the seahorse intelligence agency, is tasked with exploring an ancient underwater temple that has been flooded by the rising seas. They start with no weapon and no idea of what is inside, and venture in to discover a secret stash of ancient yet powerful weapons.

The key mechanic that differentiates The Secret of the Seahorses from other FPS games is the unique underwater shooting mechanics. In this world, instead of bullets being fired from guns, the majority of weapons utilise heat radiation which is carried by the water to the enemy. This however leaves an area of water which will also damage the player if they pass through it. A second aspect that sets The Secret of the Seahorses apart is that combat is in all three dimensions, as the player and enemies can of course swim upwards and downwards.

Once completing the single player campaign, players can engage in a simple multiplayer mode where one team must defend the secret weapons in various locations from the attacking team.
