I wasn't sure where this one was going, but started with a trap set drum rack in which I replaced the kick with a 909. I thought I'd follow the general rhythm and not worry too much about tonality, and it started getting interesting when I added percussion with Ableton's Behr pack and some handclaps. Initially I had some Operator bass, then some Analog bass...and took them out when I tracked some Epiphone bass. A bit of Electric piano (Old School Roads preset) and sparse guitar (Res-O-Glas, straight into the board) pulled it into a thing. There's also some second bass guitar, and some Operator percussion. Notable: high-pass filter on bass that rolls off under 40; sidechaining against the kick with the Glue compressor instead of the regular compressor. And a high-pass and low-pass auto-filter on the guitar, instead of a band-pass as usual. Convolution reverb and Simple Delay-> Filter Delay for sends, and full-chain master. Auto-pan on most things, but no Humanizer this time.

Title from the 128bpm, which is a power of 2.

After a long hiatus, I decided to drop by and upload this little ambient jam, inspired by some exercises using the classic Ensoniq SQ-80 waves.

I'm rediscovering the whole world of 90's ROMplers and wave table synths :)

Anyway, life gets in the middle, so I hope you enjoy this humble evolving piece

May 28, 15:30-17:20. Not in a good mood today. Nonetheless, songwriting time means songwriting time. Also, I borrowed a Korg Electribe EMX-1 to see if I want to buy it so I have to try it out and see if it's something that'll inspire me to do interesting things.

A few things I learned:

- Analog synthesizer tuning sucks

- Korg has some pretty cool SFX in it, but I'm still not clear if I really need a groovebox like it.

- I really really lazied out on this track, it needed a few more parts.

Total time: 1h 50m

My time has been really limited lately, so I've just aiming for more 1 minute of something. Here's something.

This week I sat down again with nothing really in mind and just started working on drum sounds and built the song up from there. Overall I'm pretty happy with this track, so it may see an official release on a future EP.

For this song I used the following:
-DM - The Drum Machine
- Logic Pro (DAW/various effects)
- Alto Saxophone

*This week does a have movie sample, can you guess from which movie?
