Plan for the game!
basically an errand game with minigame themed around fishies!

began making a prototype but had to rest because im getting tired at making videos

End of day 1. So far I have a player that can swim and shoot. I like how the swim movement turned out, it has a nice feel to it and isn't too floaty.

I have an simple idea for an arcade game.
You are a trout trying to swim up the river.
there would be couple obstacles like:

  • waterfalls,
  • fishermen standing in water,
  • bears,
  • falcons.

If i have some spare time, i'll also make some biomes like:
dunes, mountains, swamp, forrest, fields.

Minimal project would be just waterfalls.

Player rythmically hits two keys to make trout go faster in the water, space for jump out of water.

Didn't do too much today, but I did make some fish that swim when you press A & D and tried making a shader for the lighting

Just worked on the character controls and collisions today.

Basicly just worked on the character controller all day, not bad sence the character controller is important for the game that i want to try to make.

Going to be heavely inspired by Voices Of the Void so yeah its kinda fun ^_^!

I'm just going to create a simple game where you, a fish, smash enemies, other fish. (it's a retro beat-em-up!) It'll be pretty simple with overpowered but fun abilities. I didn't get to work on it much today because I didn't have much time between start of jam and when I need to sleep but I was able to finish most of the planning and start making some of the art.

The basic idea of the game is you are a fish in a kitchen, and you're trying not to get caught. You have to cook meals quick so you don't get caught, but you don't want to mess any orders up either. And since you are a fish every now and then you have to spend precious time in the sink so you don't die of suffocation.
Right now I just have the movement, camera, and a ton of placeholder art.

Quick tip is to listen to run the jewels while working, it gives a 30% increase to productivity. Also here is a lame picture of a fish I made

u walk. u die. spike yea that die u

Holy scope creep — a fishing game that turns into a bullet hell card battler hybrid
Let's see what ends up on the cutting room floor

Dive deep to get the treasure (or something, I've not gotten there yet)! But careful, something or other (probably a fish) will try and stop you.

Anyways, remember to make games environment first (good advice I promise).

But hey, look at pretty coral.

Hello everyone, I'm here to let all of you know my progress!

The basic idea for the game is a mutant goldfish grows legs, finds a shotgun, and seeks revenge against humanity for making him an abomination. His goal is to detonate a nuclear power plant to create an army of mutant fish to storm the beaches of the human territory. The genre will be a platformer (unique ik ik but its my first game jam so withhold the judgement for the time being) but the twist will be that your double jump is tied to you attack so if you need to choose between mobility and offence.

Here what I have done so far:
1 a tilemap system for spikes, fore and background
2 a pretty tight platforming movement system (including jump buffer, coyote time, and slightly floatier controls in the air (take 2/15 of a second to reach max speed))
3 place holder pause menu
4 place holder keybind/sound+Music options menus
5 implemented the unity URP lighting system
6 added place holder shotgun UI for loaded/unloaded
7 finished a few sprites for 3 types of enemies and for an openable door
8 made a sprite for a death counter

I have provided an image of the game in its current state. I look forward to seeing all of your progress!

So the premise of this game is a simple racing game but it’s inspired by those mobile games that you see on tiktok. Really simple but it will have more during development. Like obstacles and cutscenes.

The 'F' stands for Fish if you were wondering...

Yup... That's it...
Our idea for the game is a horde survival where there is a pollution meter which slowly fills up and when it fills up, a boss spawns. Confusing? Just lemme cook.

I came up with three simple ideas for the FishFest Game Jam. I've circled the one I like best and I'll be starting on it soon after I've fleshed out all the required mechanics.

Concept artwork I made about a week ago. Haven't made any finalized artwork yet, but that'll be the first thing I work on when the jam begins.

I already have a good idea in my head on what the game will be like, and it's fortunately a mechanically simple game, so I'm not worried about working on visuals first.

I'll be posting a more thorough update tomorrow, detailing some of the basics of my game mechanics and an image or two of the actual game.

Got a little character controller prototype done, was able to salvage most of the code from an earlier project. Can't wait to start doing proper game work tomorrow!
