Dangers of Alchemy

BCT15021A

15/08/2015

Platform: PS4 Exclusive

Overview: Unfortunate events has lead you to become the apprentice to your local village's alchemist and herbalist. People have travelled far and wide seeking his potions and remedies for things that trouble them but he has always been known as being on the crazy side. You remember when you were just little, how many sought him out to study the world of alchemy under his guidance, but his method of teaching proved to be….fatal, and so as time went on would be apprentices sought other mentors as the knowledge the mad alchemist had didn't seem the price of he life. This is part of the reason of how you've ended up as his next victim/apprentice, the mad alchemist is getting on in his years and the people fear what would happen if they lost all that knowledge along with his passing and so you have been appointed as his apprentice. As the saying goes "nothing bad can come from good intentions" all you did was help mend a few broken bones, mix a few local herbs together for simple salves and suddenly you are the best pick to be his apprentice. Well, there's no point complaining now, there's a higher chance you'll survive this compared to the alternative which was to become a border guard and that would mean certain death for you as your weak, small frame is not one that is suited to taking out bandits and fighting off wolves.

Aim: The aim of the game is pay to attention to your master's instructions and create alchemical potions and remedies successfully. The game will be broken up into third and first person view depending on the action, which will give you greater ability to complete tasks. E.g. When hunting for herbs or ingredients it will be third person as you will have to hunt round the countryside, go into towns etc. to find the ingredients you need to make your potions. When actually making potions or plucking flowers/herbs etc. it will be first person as you will need to control how you remove or mix ingredients because a plant might need to be cut in a certain way or the leaves might be poisonous and only the stalk is needed etc.

Mechanics/Features:

. Deep Crafting System: Players will use a deep crafting system in order to create potions, mix ingredients and gather resources. Players will need to pay close attention to the recipe and follow it as closely as possible or risk causing something bad to go wrong which could cause their death.

. Level Up: Players will be able to gain experience for successfully gathering ingredients and brewing potions. Once they level up, they will be able to use a deep skill tree which will give them the ability to unlock skills and refine their talent in the alchemical arts and allow them to invent new potions and use more complex recipes.

When a person dies, their soul leave their body. Well, normally.

Humans are complicated creatures, they hold so many emotions that chained themselves to the world. Even after they die, their souls that filled with regrets and resentments stays in the world. Wandering. Lingering. For something. There are two kinds of spirits; wandering spirits, and evil spirits. Evil spirits are full of hate and resentments in the world, they have the tendencies to be very violent.

You have the special abilities to see these spirits. Your job is to put them too rest so they can go to the after life. The way you put them to rest is up to you. You can either be forceful and exorcist them, or you'd actually help them to release all of their regrets and let them go peacefully. Any wandering spirits can turn evil depending on how you help/exorcising them and this may be difficult if you aren't equip with any exorcising tools. If you are feeling brave you can try to do it without any tool and use your ability and kindness to help them.

Every action you take will affect your power. This is similar to Fable's good or evil system, the more "good" points you have more spirits trusts you to help them without any force.

Platform: PC, mobile

"A ball for a ball makes the whole world round" is a basketball inspired sports game in third person. The rules are simple and familiar, as they are the same with basketball. Players must score as much points by passing the ball through the opponent's hoop. But there isn't just one ball. There are 10 balls, and the boundaries are blocked off by tall glass, so the basketballs won't go out. Players can shoot balls certain distances, and can also intercept other balls that are in flight. The round timers are usually 3 minutes.

There are different classes to choose from.

1. A long shooter where balls can be shot a long distance.

2. A speedy shooter where balls travel very fast.

3. An accurate shooter where balls will be shot high up into the air instead of a more linear shot.

4. A multi shooter, who can dribble and hold up to two balls. Shots aren't very accurate or strong.

The main mechanic will be shooting, and intercepting other basketballs in flight.

You are a deep space miner making the long return trip back to Sol system. Faster than light travel is still the work of science fiction however with mining missions to the asteroid belt taking years to traverse. You are looking forward to seeing your family when you return. Your only companion is your ships on board computer personality M.I.R.E.L but despite her presence you still long for human company.

The first level of this game has the player familiarize themselves with the ship. They eat breakfast, exercise, play a video game, watch the same holo-vid for the 10th time and exercise again. The ships environment is cramped, sterile and littered with photos of your family and poster of your favourite bands.

This level ends when the player ship is hit by a rouge asteroid and the player rushes to seal off the area of the ship that was hit. This levels everything in the ship a mess. M.I.R.E.L notifies you that the ship is haemorrhaging air and the backup power won't last long enough to get you back to civilization. From here on the player must race against time to repair the ship and struggle with M.I.R.E.L to survive the journey home.

This game will feature:

  • 1st person survive thriller theme
  • Puzzle solving in zero gravity
  • Claustrophobic gameplay
  • Story driven gameplay.

In this first-person 3D detective game, you play as a castaway who has been washed up on an island in a strange faraway place with no recollection of being on any trip. There is nothing on the island except you, a forest, and a small number of other individuals, all of which are waking up as you look around at the empty land.

Only one of these people can be trusted.

You are the Human. You have been isolated on an island with no memory of anything before arriving, and are among five other people. These people are known as the Deceiver, the Poisoner, the Betrayer, the Murderer, and the Innocent respectively. But you don't know which is which, and neither does the Innocent. It will only become clear who you can trust over a length of time, but the other four all know who the Innocent is, and are aware you are one of the others. Will you be able to identify the Innocent? Will it be too late for either of you by then?

--

The island you live on is beyond time and memory, and you do not need to eat or drink to survive. But you do need to sleep sooner or later. As the hours turn into days, certain behaviours will start to subtly emerge among the people: the Deceiver will attempt to exploit mental vulnerabilities in the group and extract the secrets of others for later blackmail; the Poisoner will fill everyone's minds with hatred and distrust through subtle suggestion and scandal, making them less likely to work together; the Betrayer will worm into someone's good books, then turn on them when they have nothing more to gain in favour of another, leaving them helpless and with nothing; and the Murderer will case a victim silently, patiently, before finally cornering and preying on them alone, without warning.

A way out exists for you and the Innocent; at the center of the forest, beyond the dangers of the others. Should you both make it to the center, a way out will appear before you and spirit you away from the island. But the Innocent will not go into the forest alone with anyone else until they trust them, and will instead stay on the coast, watching the others. The Deceiver will appear to be the Innocent through tricks and guile. The Poisoner will spread lies and make it seem like someone else is doing the poisoning; the Betrayer will zero in on another, playing harmless; the Murderer will stay where the victims are, revealing nothing of their intent.

It is your task to figure out who the Innocent is before either of you fall victim to the other four's traps, gain their trust even as the others try to do the same, and with them navigate to the center of the forest, alone. There, in the Innocent's and the Human's combined presence, an escape to the outside world will appear. But beware: if the person you have found is not the innocent, it most likely will be too late...

This is game inspired by my real-life experience, and I've had the idea before, but it resurfaced only now because of my recent experience with local police :D They asked me for a breathe test while I was returning home late from CBD, found nothing and let me go :) This is also inspired by the game "Papers, please!", but with a twist :D

So the idea of the game is that you are a policeman, and you are stationed at one of the roads leading out of an entertainment district. Your task is to catch drunken drivers on the road, and you have to catch as many as you can for two reasons:

1) There is a plan, a set amount of drunken people driving around, that is calculated by statistical methods. You have to meet that plan, otherwise you won't get the bonus.

2) You must keep the roads safe for other people.

Mechanics: The player is standing on the road and he can pull over any car that is coming his way. Obviously, he has to keep an eye out for weird behavior on the road, but even perfect driving doesn't mean that the driver is alcohol free. After you pull over the car (or motorbike) you have to ask them to say "Count from 1 to 10" and put the tester device in front of them and keep it at the correct distance. The person will obviously move his head a little back and forth or sideways, and you have to keep the device more or less at the same spot in front of the mouth to get an accurate reading. If the driver has any alcohol detected - call the ambulance and evacuate the vehicle. Otherwise let him go. And don't forget to smile. More mechanics can be added on top, like check the license or registration if there is anything suspicious.

Overview: set in the very near future, you play as the commander of an the secretive Russian space war program. Russia has been on the verge of invading nearby countries and is needing enough time to pull this off before the international community can react. It's your job to destroy as many satellites as possible buying enough time for the invasion.

Mechanics: the game is a physics based title where your goal is to use a number of different possible methods to take down other countries eyes. The game plays out in quick arcade like succession with different stages allowing you to play the game from a number of different perspectives with different methods.

Initially you start with a simple space built weapon system to create a field of debris to start a chain reaction to knock out as many satellites as possible. once successful with this stage you move onto further stages where the goal gets progressively harder I.e. You move onto a stage where you are given old equipment and must fling a sacrificial kosmonaut to create this chain reaction.

It will mix up the gameplay as well by giving you equipment such as lasers, different game goals (play as a Chinese astronaut trying to save the satellites. Play as a space monkey trying to dodge the debris field as long as possible etc.) the idea is that it is colourful, fast paced and constantly changing. So each time you get used to a mechanic it gives you a new one using a similar way of playing, but expanding on it, or reversing it.

Again, sorry! Will upload the images later on

Ethereal Lights is a puzzle game for PC and home consoles.

The game revolves around a person, suffering severe depression and potentially. This person has decided to take walk out in the streets late at night. The player does not play or control this person. Instead the player takes the role of an ethereal being, a small glowing orb of light, tasked with protecting this person and staying with them in their time of need.

The player must stay in close proximity to the protagonist at all times and keep any harm from befalling them as they walk along from checkpoint to checkpoint. This system essentially makes all "levels" seamless. The level is lost and must be restarted from the most recent checkpoint should the protagonist come to any harm (self-inflicted, such as ambling into traffic, or otherwise for example, a mugging), or should the player get too far away from the protagonist, whose movement rarely ceases.

The player can in no way interact with the protagonist, but instead move and manipulate objects and people in the environment (should they be in range) so that the protagonists path is clear or they are out of danger. The player is also able to obstruct and redirect the characters movement should it keep them out of danger.

The key element to this game is the player's movement. Unlike most games, the player's movement is heavily restricted and acts as one of the puzzle elements of the game. Due to the players form, they can only move and exist by darting from light source to light source. This may mean finding paths through scattered street lights or so on, in order to stay in close proximity to the wandering protagonist. However, the player can only inhabit a light source for so long before, for example, the light bulb shatters. This forces the player to be strategic and swift with their pathfinding throughout the game. These elements combined mean the player must not only look after the protagonist but also manage and plan their own movement.

Pied Piper is a puzzle game based on the popular tale of the Pied Piper. In this game the player controls the infamous Pied Piper and must find, locate and navigate a certain amount of Rats to an exit on every level.

Each level will consist on a certain amount of Rats that the player must find and then lead to a cliff. They can be hidden under objects, inside things or just walking around. The map style will be a birds eye view like most popular puzzle games of the past but the key features will be easy to spot and you can zoom in to make it 3D to help you navigate and discover things. This way the camera angle will be a primary focus to not fail the player and to also allow fully function navigation of the map provided. Think google maps.

The HUD or overhead display will tell you what items you have, how many rats are in the level and how much time you have left to complete the stage before you fail. There will be no game over and the player can try as many times as they like. Items included in the game will include Scary Cat Toy (to scare the Rat in a certain direction), Cheese on a String (to lure the Rat out of a wall/hole), Rolled up Newspaper (To swap baskets/barrels that they may be hiding it causing it to break) and lastly the flute, which will make all Rats head towards the sound, eventually you can upgrade it so that the range is longer and the Rats follow faster.

The game will increase in difficulty as it goes ranging from a simple push block to clear the path puzzle, all the way up to levers, pulleys, blocks and switches to be pressed to allow the Rats through to the cliff. I would aim for the game to have a solid 100 levels and very minimal storytelling as its more about the puzzle solving nature of the game that is the key focus that I want to put out. I want it to be addictive and fun with the end result being that the player is proud of how they figured it out (think Portal).

'World's Greatest Cake Theft' is a 3D detective game for PC. The player takes on the role of Cane McMuffin, as he tries to find the person responsible for stealing the holy cake of deliciousness.

The player must explore the city, talking to its residents to gather clues. While speaking to any character, McMuffin may express doubt, or use collected evidence to draw out more information from his questioning.

The game has 12 major events that must be solved before getting to the thief, divided across a week of in-universe time. While at the start of the game the player only has to pressure regular citizens, finding ways to press and obtain evidence gets harder as McMuffin comes to the realization that the real culprit comes from within the police force, effectively being above the law.

The player loses if they present too much faulty evidence in a row (sometimes resulting in McMuffin being fired!), but this only takes the player to the start of the event, so there isn't much time wasted.

General idea of the game.

It's a puzzle game. Deliver bananas using monkeys in a most effective ways. There are various monkeys harvesting bananas in different patterns. And banana trees are planted in a map that different monkeys are most effective than the others. The player will have to figure out which monkey is the most effective way to correct most bananas in time. Sometimes mixture of monkey may be needed as they can be used as combos. Every monkeys are unique and ability to learn more skill but nor are the same. Which will give the player the passion of playing and rising the monkey to achieve the goal.

Goal of the game.

The game is to predict, and solve the puzzles given using limited resources that the players have. The player will need to take care of the monkey that they have to make them level up and they will become more precious. The player will learn the joy of rising an exotic animal as well.

Hyper Retro is an extremely fast and brutal shoot'em up set inside your console.

In Hyper Retro you fly around as a pixelated vehicle of your own design whist trying to gun down videogame characters based off whatever games you have installed. Hyper Retro is designed to detect what games you most commonly play and creates a pixelized version of popular characters and enemies from that game. You then fly through levels defending your pixel craft from them.

Players have the option to create their own ship by using an in game editor to place and colour their pixels and weapons, these ships are fully destructable and varry in statistics depending on choices you make. Ships consisting of less pixels are easily destroyed but strafe across the screen much faster. Large ships might pack a punch but are sluggish making damage unavoidable.

In Hyper Retro the player and enemies doesn't have a life bar, instead every shot that hits destroys the pixel it hit (or pixels for explosive weapons). In turn this can make fighting brutal and fast as the player can't regenerate life while both they and their enemys are easily detroyed.

Nicotine Pandemic is a 3d Horror game which is played in first person. It will be designed for PC's with required use of Virtual Reality headsets such as the Oculus Rift. In this game you play as a guy who lives in a creepy city and feels most awake at night.

The objective of the game is to safely traverse through the open city at night to find a 24/7 convenience store and buy some late night snacks. Once he has done this he must safely make it back to his apartment building. The horror like enemies in this game includes a range of jump scare horror like monsters that smoke cigarettes.

This game features a stealth mechanic you must quietly stay clear of their frontal vision cone as well as avoiding there smoke trails. Your only way to combat these beasts is to use a bucket of water if you manage to stealth your way into the appropriate position you can douse the monsters in water causing them to evaporate.

But one small step in the wrong place will cause the player to start violently coughing and cause him to be spotted and attacked without a chance to use his bucket of water. This will result in loss of life and a jump scare as the player is then reverted further back to the last checkpoint in the game.

In Tracks you are trying to fin your lost kitten. Your kitten has disappeared and all that is left are his paw prints.

The player needs to explore the world they find themselves in to find the tracks left by the kitten. The overall feel of the game will be fairly simplistic similar to that of the Unfinished Swan. As the player travels through the world they will uncover more about the kitten findings bits of information in the maps that tell the story of the kitten and how it got lost and why it went off to go explore.

The game will be fairly linear with the map areas linking from one to the other as the player progresses along catching up to the kitten. There will be minimal interactivity with the world mainly finding the clues as to where the kitten has gone this will be through moving objects around to find the tracks and overcoming obstacles that the kitten has crawled under or over.

The end goal is to find the kitten and bring him home.
