Either work in progress or throwaway. I don't know yet.

Skipped yesterday due to laziness and some other random weekend plans.

Started to try different angles, though only tried two today.

What worked out:

  1. Front-view is comparatively easier than other angled views because the symmetry makes life easier
  2. Draw a circle + draw rest of the shape method works quite well, albeit the latter will need much more practice

What did not:

  1. Symmetry is harder than expected...
  2. Positioning of facial features are rather hard and I can see myself struggling with
  3. Face shape looks unrefined

Will do more of this, hopefully tomorrow with more angles and actually filling out the facial features.

Onward!

I don't usually include photos of the work I do in my hand/foot sketchbook, but I thought I'd include one just to show what that tends to look like.

There's a couple of icky's under the cut! So, warning! They turned out ~pretty good~ though. The wet paint added a lot, especially to that first attempt.

so i suddenly felt the need to work on the main character since the story changed so radically. the idea was to go for someone of mixed african/native descent and have her start out with straightened hair that slowly gets more poofy/curly as she spends more time immersed in nature.

for some reason i like how intense she looks
